the gold

! יִשְׁנֶ֖א

[How] changed !

הַכֶּ֣תֶם

hak·ke·ṯem

הַטּ֑וֹב

haṭ·ṭō·wḇ;

תִּשְׁתַּפֵּ֙כְנָה֙

אַבְנֵי־

’aḇ·nê-

קֹ֔דֶשׁ

of the sanctuary

בְּרֹ֖אשׁ

at the head

as fine gold ､

אֵיכָ֤ה

’ê·ḵāh

נֶחְשְׁבוּ֙

neḥ·šə·ḇū

､ לְנִבְלֵי־

lə·niḇ·lê-

as pots ､

חֶ֔רֶשׂ

ḥe·reś,

מַעֲשֵׂ֖ה

ma·‘ă·śêh

the work

יְדֵ֥י

yə·ḏê

of the hands

! יוֹצֵֽר׃

yō·w·ṣêr.

of the potter !

their young –

בַּת־

baṯ-

עַמִּ֣י

‘am·mî

of my people

､ לְאַכְזָ֔ר

lə·’aḵ·zār,

[But is] cruel ､

[כי]

kî

[ענים]

‘ê·nîm

-

(כַּיְעֵנִ֖ים)

kay·‘ê·nîm

. בַּמִּדְבָּֽר׃

bam·miḏ·bār.

in the wilderness .

the young children

שָׁ֣אֲלוּ

､ לֶ֔חֶם

le·ḥem,

פֹּרֵ֖שׂ

[But] breaks [it]

’ên

no one

. לָהֶֽם׃

הָאֹֽכְלִים֙

hā·’ō·ḵə·lîm

לְמַ֣עֲדַנִּ֔ים

lə·ma·‘ă·ḏan·nîm,

נָשַׁ֖מּוּ

nā·šam·mū

– בַּחוּצ֑וֹת

ba·ḥū·ṣō·wṯ;

in the streets –

הָאֱמֻנִים֙

hā·’ĕ·mu·nîm

Those who were brought up

עֲלֵ֣י

‘ă·lê

in

תוֹלָ֔ע

ṯō·w·lā‘,

חִבְּק֖וּ

ḥib·bə·qū

. אַשְׁפַּתּֽוֹת׃

’aš·pat·tō·wṯ.

וַיִּגְדַּל֙

way·yiḡ·dal

And is greater

עֲוֺ֣ן

‘ă·wōn

the [punishment] of the iniquity

בַּת־

baṯ-

of the daughter

עַמִּ֔י

‘am·mî,

of my people

מֵֽחַטַּ֖את

mê·ḥaṭ·ṭaṯ

than the [punishment] of the sin

､ סְדֹ֑ם

sə·ḏōm;

of Sodom ､

הַֽהֲפוּכָ֣ה

ha·hă·p̄ū·ḵāh

which was overthrown

כְמוֹ־

ḵə·mōw-

in

､ רָ֔גַע

rā·ḡa‘,

a moment ､

וְלֹא־

wə·lō-

and with no

חָ֥לוּ

ḥā·lū

בָ֖הּ

ḇāh

. יָדָֽיִם׃

yā·ḏā·yim.

זַכּ֤וּ

נְזִירֶ֙יהָ֙

nə·zî·re·hā

､ מִשֶּׁ֔לֶג

miš·še·leḡ,

צַח֖וּ

ṣa·ḥū

､ מֵחָלָ֑ב

mê·ḥā·lāḇ;

אָ֤דְמוּ

’ā·ḏə·mū

they were more ruddy

עֶ֙צֶם֙

‘e·ṣem

､ מִפְּנִינִ֔ים

mip·pə·nî·nîm,

than rubies ､

– סַפִּ֖יר

sap·pîr

[Like] sapphire –

. גִּזְרָתָֽם׃

giz·rā·ṯām.

in their appearance .

[Now] is blacker

– מִשְּׁחוֹר֙

miš·šə·ḥō·wr

תָּֽאֳרָ֔ם

tā·’o·rām,

their appearance

they go unrecognized

– בַּחוּצ֑וֹת

ba·ḥū·ṣō·wṯ;

in the streets –

צָפַ֤ד

עוֹרָם֙

‘ō·w·rām

עַל־

‘al-

to

– עַצְמָ֔ם

‘aṣ·mām,

their bones –

､ יָבֵ֖שׁ

yā·ḇêš

as dry ､

הָיָ֥ה

hā·yāh

. כָעֵֽץ׃

ḵā·‘êṣ.

as wood .

טוֹבִ֤ים

ṭō·w·ḇîm

הָיוּ֙

חַלְלֵי־

ḥal·lê-

חֶ֔רֶב

ḥe·reḇ,

by the sword

מֵֽחַלְלֵ֖י

mê·ḥal·lê

Than [those] who die

– רָעָ֑ב

rā·‘āḇ;

of hunger –

שֶׁ֣הֵ֤ם

še·hêm

､ יָז֙וּבוּ֙

yā·zū·ḇū

מְדֻקָּרִ֔ים

mə·ḏuq·qā·rîm,

מִתְּנוּבֹ֖ת

mit·tə·nū·ḇōṯ

[for [lack] of the fruits

. שָׂדָֽי׃

śā·ḏāy.

of the field .

of the women

רַחֲמָ֣נִיּ֔וֹת

their own children –

הָי֤וּ

hā·yū

לְבָרוֹת֙

lə·ḇā·rō·wṯ

לָ֔מוֹ

lā·mōw,

בְּשֶׁ֖בֶר

bə·še·ḇer

in the destruction

בַּת־

baṯ-

of the daughter

. עַמִּֽי׃

‘am·mî.

of my people .

כִּלָּ֤ה

kil·lāh

יְהוָה֙

Yah·weh

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

– חֲמָת֔וֹ

ḥă·mā·ṯōw,

שָׁפַ֖ךְ

šā·p̄aḵ

He has poured out

חֲר֣וֹן

ḥă·rō·wn

､ אַפּ֑וֹ

’ap·pōw;

וַיַּצֶּת־

way·yaṣ·ṣeṯ-

and He kindled

אֵ֣שׁ

’êš

､ בְּצִיּ֔וֹן

bə·ṣî·yō·wn,

in Zion ､

וַתֹּ֖אכַל

wat·tō·ḵal

and it has devoured

. יְסוֹדֹתֶֽיהָ׃

yə·sō·w·ḏō·ṯe·hā.

its foundations .

הֶאֱמִ֙ינוּ֙

he·’ĕ·mî·nū

would have believed

מַלְכֵי־

mal·ḵê-

､ אֶ֔רֶץ

’e·reṣ,

of the earth ､

[וכל]

(כֹּ֖ל)

kōl

and all

יֹשְׁבֵ֣י

yō·šə·ḇê

､ תֵבֵ֑ל

ṯê·ḇêl;

of the world ､

כִּ֤י

kî

יָבֹא֙

צַ֣ר

ṣar

וְאוֹיֵ֔ב

wə·’ō·w·yêḇ,

and the enemy

בְּשַׁעֲרֵ֖י

bə·ša·‘ă·rê

. יְרוּשָׁלִָֽם׃

yə·rū·šā·lim.

mê·ḥaṭ·ṭōṯ

Because of the sins

､ נְבִיאֶ֔יהָ

nə·ḇî·’e·hā,

of her prophets ､

עֲוֺנ֖וֹת

‘ă·wō·nō·wṯ

[And] the iniquities

､ כֹּהֲנֶ֑יהָ

kō·hă·ne·hā;

of her priests ､

הַשֹּׁפְכִ֥ים

haš·šō·p̄ə·ḵîm

בְּקִרְבָּ֖הּ

bə·qir·bāh

דַּ֥ם

dam

. צַדִּיקִֽים׃

ṣad·dî·qîm.

of the just .

נָע֤וּ

עִוְרִים֙

‘iw·rîm

､ בַּֽחוּצ֔וֹת

ba·ḥū·ṣō·wṯ,

in the streets ､

נְגֹֽאֲל֖וּ

nə·ḡō·’ă·lū

they have defiled themselves

､ בַּדָּ֑ם

bad·dām;

with blood ､

בְּלֹ֣א

bə·lō

so that no one

יֽוּכְל֔וּ

yū·ḵə·lū,

יִגְּע֖וּ

yig·gə·‘ū

. בִּלְבֻשֵׁיהֶֽם׃

bil·ḇu·šê·hem.

their garments .

they shall longer

[Watching] vainly

בְּצִפִּיָּתֵ֣נוּ

bə·ṣip·pî·yā·ṯê·nū

in our watching

צִפִּ֔ינוּ

ṣip·pî·nū,

אֶל־

’el-

גּ֖וֹי

gō·w

לֹ֥א

lō

not

. יוֹשִֽׁעַ׃

yō·wō·ši·a‘.

[that] could save [us] .

､ צְעָדֵ֔ינוּ

ṣə·‘ā·ḏê·nū,

מִלֶּ֖כֶת

mil·le·ḵeṯ

so that we could not walk

– בִּרְחֹבֹתֵ֑ינוּ

bir·ḥō·ḇō·ṯê·nū;

in our streets –

､ קָרַ֥ב

qā·raḇ

קִצֵּ֛ינוּ

qiṣ·ṣê·nū

– מָלְא֥וּ

mā·lə·’ū

יָמֵ֖ינוּ

yā·mê·nū

כִּי־

kî-

בָ֥א

ḇā

. קִצֵּֽינוּ׃

קַלִּ֤ים

הָיוּ֙

רֹדְפֵ֔ינוּ

מִנִּשְׁרֵ֖י

Than the eagles

– שָׁמָ֑יִם

šā·mā·yim;

of the heavens –

עַל־

‘al-

on

､ הֶהָרִ֣ים

he·hā·rîm

the mountains ､

דְּלָקֻ֔נוּ

də·lā·qu·nū,

they pursued us

. בַּמִּדְבָּ֖ר

bam·miḏ·bār

in the wilderness .

אָ֥רְבוּ

’ā·rə·ḇū

And lay in wait

. לָֽנוּ׃

lā·nū.

for us .

rū·aḥ

､ אַפֵּ֙ינוּ֙

’ap·pê·nū

of our nostrils ､

מְשִׁ֣יחַ

mə·šî·aḥ

､ יְהוָ֔ה

Yah·weh,

of Yahweh ､

נִלְכַּ֖ד

nil·kaḏ

､ בִּשְׁחִיתוֹתָ֑ם

biš·ḥî·ṯō·w·ṯām;

in their pits ､

אֲשֶׁ֣ר

’ă·šer

､ אָמַ֔רְנוּ

’ā·mar·nū,

we said ､

בְּצִלּ֖וֹ

bə·ṣil·lōw

Under his shadow

נִֽחְיֶ֥ה

niḥ·yeh

. בַגּוֹיִֽם׃

ḇag·gō·w·yim.

among the nations .

שִׂ֤ישִׂי

śî·śî

וְשִׂמְחִי֙

wə·śim·ḥî

and be glad

בַּת־

baṯ-

､ אֱד֔וֹם

’ĕ·ḏō·wm,

of Edom ､

[יושבתי]

yō·wō·šaḇ·tî

-

(יוֹשֶׁ֖בֶת)

yō·wō·še·ḇeṯ

[You] who dwell

בְּאֶ֣רֶץ

bə·’e·reṣ

in the land

– ע֑וּץ

‘ūṣ;

of Uz –

גַּם־

gam-

עָלַ֙יִךְ֙

‘ā·la·yiḵ

to you

תַּעֲבָר־

ta·‘ă·ḇār-

shall pass over

כּ֔וֹס

kō·ws,

the cup

､ תִּשְׁכְּרִ֖י

tiš·kə·rî

and you shall become drunk ､

. וְתִתְעָרִֽי׃

wə·ṯiṯ·‘ā·rî.

and make yourself naked .

Is accomplished ､

עֲוֺנֵךְ֙

[The punishment of] your iniquity

He will longer

– לְהַגְלוֹתֵ֑ךְ

lə·haḡ·lō·w·ṯêḵ;

send you into captivity –

He will punish

､ עֲוֺנֵךְ֙

‘ă·wō·nêḵ

your iniquity ､

בַּת־

baṯ-

– אֱד֔וֹם

’ĕ·ḏō·wm,

of Edom –

גִּלָּ֖ה

He will uncover

עַל־

‘al-

on

. חַטֹּאתָֽיִךְ׃

ḥaṭ·ṭō·ṯā·yiḵ.
