becomes defiled

. לָנָֽפֶשׁ׃

the camp

תְּשַׁלְּח֑וּם

tə·šal·lə·ḥūm;

you shall put them

וְלֹ֤א

that not

יְטַמְּאוּ֙

yə·ṭam·mə·’ū

they may defile

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

､ מַ֣חֲנֵיהֶ֔ם

ma·ḥă·nê·hem,

their camps ､

אֲשֶׁ֥ר

’ă·šer

אֲנִ֖י

in unfaithfulness

､ בַּיהוָ֑ה

Yah·weh;

against Yahweh ､

– וְאָֽשְׁמָ֖ה

wə·’ā·šə·māh

and is guilty –

הַנֶּ֥פֶשׁ

han·ne·p̄eš

､ הַהִֽוא׃

ha·hi·w.

that ､

וְהִתְוַדּ֗וּ

wə·hiṯ·wad·dū,

then he shall confess

אֶֽת־

’eṯ-

-

חַטָּאתָם֮

ḥaṭ·ṭā·ṯām

the sin

אֲשֶׁ֣ר

’ă·šer

､ עָשׂוּ֒

‘ā·śū

he has committed ､

וְהֵשִׁ֤יב

wə·hê·šîḇ

and He shall make restitution for

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

אֲשָׁמוֹ֙

’ă·šā·mōw

､ בְּרֹאשׁ֔וֹ

bə·rō·šōw,

in full ､

וַחֲמִישִׁת֖וֹ

wa·ḥă·mî·ši·ṯōw

and a fifth of [it]

יֹסֵ֣ף

yō·sêp̄

､ עָלָ֑יו

‘ā·lāw;

to it ､

וְנָתַ֕ן

wə·nā·ṯan

and give [it]

לַאֲשֶׁ֖ר

la·’ă·šer

to the one

אָשַׁ֥ם

’ā·šam

. לֽוֹ׃

to him .

וְאִם־

But if

and it is hidden

מֵעֵינֵ֣י

､ אִישָׁ֔הּ

’î·šāh,

of her husband ､

､ וְנִסְתְּרָ֖ה

wə·nis·tə·rāh

and it is concealed ､

וְהִ֣יא

wə·hî

､ נִטְמָ֑אָה

niṭ·mā·’āh;

has defiled herself ､

וְעֵד֙

wə·‘êḏ

אֵ֣ין

､ בָּ֔הּ

against her ､

וְהִ֖וא

and she

לֹ֥א

and although she

then shall bring

remembering ､

for bringing to remembrance

וְהִקְרִ֥יב

And shall bring her near

אֹתָ֖הּ

הַכֹּהֵ֑ן

וְהֶֽעֱמִדָ֖הּ

wə·he·‘ĕ·mi·ḏāh

לִפְנֵ֥י

וּ֠בָאוּ

And may go

הַמַּ֨יִם

הַמְאָרְרִ֤ים

the that causes curses

הָאֵ֙לֶּה֙

hā·’êl·leh

､ בְּֽמֵעַ֔יִךְ

bə·mê·‘a·yiḵ,

into your stomach ､

לַצְבּ֥וֹת

laṣ·bō·wṯ

､ בֶּ֖טֶן

be·ṭen

[your] belly ､

וְלַנְפִּ֣ל

wə·lan·pil

and rot

– יָרֵ֑ךְ

yā·rêḵ;

[your] thigh –

וְאָמְרָ֥ה

wə·’ā·mə·rāh

､ הָאִשָּׁ֖ה

hā·’iš·šāh

the woman ､

､ אָמֵ֥ן ׀

’ā·mên

Amen ､

וְ֠כָתַב

And shall write

אֶת־

’eṯ-

הָאָלֹ֥ת

hā·’ā·lōṯ

הָאֵ֛לֶּה

hā·’êl·leh

הַכֹּהֵ֖ן

hak·kō·hên

､ בַּסֵּ֑פֶר

bas·sê·p̄er;

in a book ､

וּמָחָ֖ה

ū·mā·ḥāh

and he shall scrape [them] off

אֶל־

’el-

מֵ֥י

mê

. הַמָּרִֽים׃

ham·mā·rîm.

the bitter .

וְהִשְׁקָה֙

wə·hiš·qāh

אֶת־

’eṯ-

הָ֣אִשָּׁ֔ה

hā·’iš·šāh,

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

מֵ֥י

mê

הַמָּרִ֖ים

ham·mā·rîm

– הַמְאָֽרֲרִ֑ים

ham·’ā·ră·rîm;

that brings a curse –

וּבָ֥אוּ

and shall enter

בָ֛הּ

הַמַּ֥יִם

. לְמָרִֽים׃

וְלָקַ֤ח

of the woman

And shall take a handful

the offering ､

､ אַזְכָּ֣רָתָ֔הּ

’az·kā·rā·ṯāh,

as its memorial [portion] ､

וְהִקְטִ֖יר

wə·hiq·ṭîr

and burn [it]

､ הַמִּזְבֵּ֑חָה

ham·miz·bê·ḥāh;

on the altar ､

וְאַחַ֛ר

wə·’a·ḥar

יַשְׁקֶ֥ה

yaš·qeh

אֶת־

’eṯ-

הָאִשָּׁ֖ה

hā·’iš·šāh

אֶת־

’eṯ-

. הַמָּֽיִם׃

the water .

וְהִשְׁקָ֣הּ

And when he has made her drink

､ הַמַּ֗יִם

､ וְהָיְתָ֣ה

then it shall be ､

､ נִטְמְאָה֮

she has defiled herself ､

וַתִּמְעֹ֣ל

wat·tim·‘ōl

מַ֣עַל

ma·‘al

､ בְּאִישָׁהּ֒

bə·’î·šāh

toward her husband ､

וּבָ֨אוּ

ū·ḇā·’ū

that will enter

בָ֜הּ

ḇāh

הַמַּ֤יִם

ham·ma·yim

הַמְאָֽרֲרִים֙

ham·’ā·ră·rîm

the that brings a curse

､ לְמָרִ֔ים

lə·mā·rîm,

[and become] bitter ､

וְצָבְתָ֣ה

wə·ṣā·ḇə·ṯāh

and will swell

､ בִטְנָ֔הּ

ḇiṭ·nāh,

וְנָפְלָ֖ה

wə·nā·p̄ə·lāh

and will rot

､ יְרֵכָ֑הּ

yə·rê·ḵāh;

וְהָיְתָ֧ה

wə·hā·yə·ṯāh

and will become

הָאִשָּׁ֛ה

hā·’iš·šāh

לְאָלָ֖ה

בְּקֶ֥רֶב

bə·qe·reḇ

. עַמָּֽהּ׃

‘am·māh.

וְאִם־

wə·’im-

But if

לֹ֤א

lō

not

נִטְמְאָה֙

niṭ·mə·’āh

has defiled herself

､ הָֽאִשָּׁ֔ה

hā·’iš·šāh,

the woman ､

וּטְהֹרָ֖ה

ū·ṭə·hō·rāh

､ הִ֑וא

hî

is ､

וְנִקְּתָ֖ה

wə·niq·qə·ṯāh

then she shall be free

וְנִזְרְעָ֥ה

wə·niz·rə·‘āh

and may conceive

. זָֽרַע׃

zā·ra‘.

זֹ֥את

zōṯ

תּוֹרַ֖ת

tō·w·raṯ

[is] the law

､ הַקְּנָאֹ֑ת

haq·qə·nā·’ōṯ;

of jealousy ､

אֲשֶׁ֨ר

’ă·šer

תִּשְׂטֶ֥ה

tiś·ṭeh

אִשָּׁ֛ה

’iš·šāh

תַּ֥חַת

ta·ḥaṯ

､ אִישָׁ֖הּ

’î·šāh

her husband's [authority] ､

– וְנִטְמָֽאָה׃

wə·niṭ·mā·’āh.

and defiles herself –

א֣וֹ

’ōw

or

אִ֗ישׁ

’îš,

-

אֲשֶׁ֨ר

’ă·šer

תַּעֲבֹ֥ר

ta·‘ă·ḇōr

עָלָ֛יו

‘ā·lāw

ר֥וּחַ

rū·aḥ

､ קִנְאָ֖ה

qin·’āh

of jealousy ､

וְקִנֵּ֣א

wə·qin·nê

and he becomes jealous

אֶת־

’eṯ-

of

､ אִשְׁתּ֑וֹ

’iš·tōw;

וְהֶעֱמִ֤יד

wə·he·‘ĕ·mîḏ

then he shall stand

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

הָֽאִשָּׁה֙

hā·’iš·šāh

לִפְנֵ֣י

lip̄·nê

､ יְהוָ֔ה

Yah·weh,

וְעָ֤שָׂה

wə·‘ā·śāh

and shall execute

לָהּ֙

lāh

הַכֹּהֵ֔ן

hak·kō·hên,

אֵ֥ת

’êṯ

-

כָּל־

kāl-

הַתּוֹרָ֖ה

hat·tō·w·rāh

. הַזֹּֽאת׃

haz·zōṯ.

וְנִקָּ֥ה

wə·niq·qāh

And shall be free

הָאִ֖ישׁ

hā·’îš

the man

､ מֵעָוֺ֑ן

mê·‘ā·wōn;

from iniquity ､

וְהָאִשָּׁ֣ה

wə·hā·’iš·šāh

הַהִ֔וא

ha·hi·w,

תִּשָּׂ֖א

tiś·śā

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

. עֲוֺנָֽהּ׃

‘ă·wō·nāh.
