דִּבְרֵ֤י ׀

אָג֥וּר

’ā·ḡūr

בִּן־

bin-

､ יָקֶ֗ה

yā·qeh,

of Jakeh ､

. הַמַּ֫שָּׂ֥א

ham·maś·śā

[his] utterance .

נְאֻ֣ם

nə·’um

הַ֭גֶּבֶר

hag·ge·ḇer

the man

､ לְאִֽיתִיאֵ֑ל

lə·’î·ṯî·’êl;

to Ithiel ､

לְאִ֖יתִיאֵ֣ל

lə·’î·ṯî·’êl

､ וְאֻכָֽל׃

wə·’u·ḵāl.

and Ucal ､

כִּ֤י

kî

בַ֣עַר

ḇa·‘ar

אָנֹכִ֣י

’ā·nō·ḵî

I [am]

､ מֵאִ֑ישׁ

mê·’îš;

than [any] man ､

וְלֹֽא־

wə·lō-

and not

בִינַ֖ת

ḇî·naṯ

do have the understanding

אָדָ֣ם

’ā·ḏām

of a man

. לִֽי׃

lî.

to .

וְלֹֽא־

wə·lō-

לָמַ֥דְתִּי

lā·maḏ·tî

､ חָכְמָ֑ה

ḥāḵ·māh

וְדַ֖עַת

wə·ḏa·‘aṯ

קְדֹשִׁ֣ים

qə·ḏō·šîm

of the Holy one

. אֵדָֽע׃

’ê·ḏā‘.

מִ֤י

mî

עָלָֽה־

‘ā·lāh-

､ שָׁמַ֨יִם ׀

šā·ma·yim

into heaven ､

؟ וַיֵּרַ֡ד

way·yê·raḏ

or descended ؟

מִ֤י

mî

אָֽסַף־

’ā·sap̄-

ר֨וּחַ ׀

rū·aḥ

the wind

؟ בְּחָפְנָ֡יו

bə·ḥā·p̄ə·nāw

in His fists ؟

מִ֤י

mî

צָֽרַר־

ṣā·rar-

מַ֨יִם ׀

ma·yim

؟ בַּשִּׂמְלָ֗ה

baś·śim·lāh,

in a garment ؟

מִ֭י

mî

הֵקִ֣ים

hê·qîm

has established

כָּל־

kāl-

אַפְסֵי־

’ap̄·sê-

the ends

؟ אָ֑רֶץ

’ā·reṣ;

of the earth ؟

מַה־

mah-

what [is]

､ שְּׁמ֥וֹ

šə·mōw

וּמַֽה־

ū·mah-

and what [is]

､ שֶּׁם־

šem-

name ､

בְּ֝נ֗וֹ

bə·nōw,

כִּ֣י

kî

if

؟ תֵדָֽע׃

ṯê·ḏā‘.

כָּל־

kāl-

אִמְרַ֣ת

’im·raṯ

אֱל֣וֹהַּ

’ĕ·lō·w·ah

of God

– צְרוּפָ֑ה

ṣə·rū·p̄āh;

[is] pure –

מָגֵ֥ן

mā·ḡên

[is] a shield

ה֝֗וּא

hū,

He

לַֽחֹסִ֥ים

la·ḥō·sîm

to those who put their trust

. בּֽוֹ׃

bōw.

in Him .

אַל־

’al-

Not

תּ֥וֹסְףְּ

tō·wsp

do add

עַל־

‘al-

to

､ דְּבָרָ֑יו

də·ḇā·rāw;

פֶּן־

pen-

יוֹכִ֖יחַ

yō·w·ḵî·aḥ

בְּךָ֣

bə·ḵā

. וְנִכְזָֽבְתָּ׃

wə·niḵ·zā·ḇə·tā.

and you be found a liar .

בְּטֶ֣רֶם

– אָמֽוּת׃

I die –

שָׁ֤וְא ׀

וּֽדְבַר־

ū·ḏə·ḇar-

and

– כָּזָ֡ב

kā·zāḇ

lies –

הַרְחֵ֬ק

har·ḥêq

מִמֶּ֗נִּי

mim·men·nî,

רֵ֣אשׁ

rêš

– וָ֭עֹשֶׁר

wā·‘ō·šer

אַל־

’al-

תִּֽתֶּן־

tit·ten-

לִ֑י

lî;

me

הַ֝טְרִיפֵ֗נִי

haṭ·rî·p̄ê·nî,

לֶ֣חֶם

le·ḥem

with the food

. חֻקִּֽי׃

ḥuq·qî.

allotted to me .

פֶּ֥ן

pen

､ אֶשְׂבַּ֨ע ׀

’eś·ba‘

I be full ､

וְכִחַשְׁתִּי֮

wə·ḵi·ḥaš·tî

and deny [You]

､ וְאָמַ֗רְתִּי

wə·’ā·mar·tî,

and say ､

מִ֥י

mî

who [is]

יְה֫וָ֥ה

Yah·weh

וּפֶֽן־

ū·p̄en-

､ אִוָּרֵ֥שׁ

’iw·wā·rêš

I be poor ､

､ וְגָנַ֑בְתִּי

wə·ḡā·naḇ·tî;

and steal ､

וְ֝תָפַ֗שְׂתִּי

wə·ṯā·p̄aś·tî,

שֵׁ֣ם

and you be found guilty .

[There is] a generation

､ אָבִ֣יו

יְקַלֵּ֑ל

yə·qal·lêl;

וְאֶת־

wə·’eṯ-

and

אִ֝מּ֗וֹ

’im·mōw,

לֹ֣א

not

. יְבָרֵֽךְ׃

yə·ḇā·rêḵ.

דּ֭וֹר

dō·wr

[There is] a generation

טָה֣וֹר

ṭā·hō·wr

､ בְּעֵינָ֑יו

bə·‘ê·nāw;

in its own eyes ､

וּ֝מִצֹּאָת֗וֹ

ū·miṣ·ṣō·’ā·ṯōw,

and [Yet] from its filthiness

לֹ֣א

lō

not

. רֻחָֽץ׃

ru·ḥāṣ.

､ דּ֭וֹר

dō·wr

[There is] a generation ､

מָה־

māh-

oh how

רָמ֣וּ

rā·mū

! עֵינָ֑יו

‘ê·nāw;

וְ֝עַפְעַפָּ֗יו

wə·‘ap̄·‘ap·pāw,

and their eyelids

. יִנָּשֵֽׂאוּ׃

yin·nā·śê·’ū.

are lifted up .

､ דּ֤וֹר ׀

dō·wr

[There is] a generation ､

､ חֲרָב֣וֹת

ḥă·rā·ḇō·wṯ

[like] swords ､

שִׁנָּיו֮

šin·nāw

whose teeth [are]

､ וּֽמַאֲכָל֪וֹת

ū·ma·’ă·ḵā·lō·wṯ

and [like] knives ､

מְֽתַלְּעֹ֫תָ֥יו

mə·ṯal·lə·‘ō·ṯāw

whose fangs [are]

לֶאֱכֹ֣ל

le·’ĕ·ḵōl

עֲנִיִּ֣ים

‘ă·nî·yîm

the poor

､ מֵאֶ֑רֶץ

mê·’e·reṣ;

from off the earth ､

וְ֝אֶבְיוֹנִ֗ים

wə·’eḇ·yō·w·nîm,

and the needy

. מֵאָדָֽם׃

mê·’ā·ḏām.

from [among] men .

לַֽעֲלוּקָ֨ה ׀

שְׁתֵּ֥י

šə·tê

､ בָנוֹת֮

ḇā·nō·wṯ

､ הַ֤ב ׀

Give ､

[and] Give .

שָׁל֣וֹשׁ

הֵ֭נָּה

hên·nāh

לֹ֣א

､ תִשְׂבַּ֑עְנָה

ṯiś·ba‘·nāh;

אַ֝רְבַּ֗ע

’ar·ba‘,

､ לֹא־

lō-

אָ֥מְרוּ

’ā·mə·rū

– הֽוֹן׃

hō·wn.

– שְׁאוֹל֮

šə·’ō·wl

the grave –

וְעֹ֪צֶ֫ר

wə·‘ō·ṣer

and the barren

– רָ֥חַם

rā·ḥam

womb –

אֶ֭רֶץ

’e·reṣ

לֹא־

lō-

not

שָׂ֣בְעָה

śā·ḇə·‘āh

[that] is satisfied

– מַּ֑יִם

ma·yim;

with water –

וְ֝אֵ֗שׁ

wə·’êš,

and the fire

､ לֹא־

lō-

אָ֥מְרָה

’ā·mə·rāh

. הֽוֹן׃

hō·wn.

עַ֤יִן ׀

‘a·yin

The eye

תִּֽלְעַ֣ג

til·‘aḡ

､ לְאָב֮

lə·’āḇ

[his] father ､

וְתָב֪וּז

wə·ṯā·ḇūz

לִֽיקֲּהַ֫ת־

lîq·qă·haṯ-

､ אֵ֥ם

’êm

[his] mother ､

､ יִקְּר֥וּהָ

yiq·qə·rū·hā

will pick it out ､

עֹרְבֵי־

‘ō·rə·ḇê-

נַ֑חַל

na·ḥal;

of the valley

וְֽיֹאכְל֥וּהָ

wə·yō·ḵə·lū·hā

and will eat it

בְנֵי־

ḇə·nê-

. נָֽשֶׁר׃

nā·šer.

the eagles .

שְׁלֹשָׁ֣ה

הֵ֭מָּה

hêm·māh

נִפְלְא֣וּ

nip̄·lə·’ū

מִמֶּ֑נִּי

mim·men·nî;

for me

[וארבע]

wə·’ar·bā‘

(וְ֝אַרְבָּעָ֗ה)

wə·’ar·bā·‘āh,

– לֹ֣א

lō

not –

. יְדַעְתִּֽים׃

yə·ḏa‘·tîm.

[which] I do understand .

דֶּ֤רֶךְ

de·reḵ

The way

הַנֶּ֨שֶׁר ׀

han·ne·šer

of an eagle

– בַּשָּׁמַיִם֮

baš·šā·ma·yim

in the air –

דֶּ֥רֶךְ

de·reḵ

the way

נָחָ֗שׁ

nā·ḥāš,

עֲלֵ֫י

‘ă·lê

on

– צ֥וּר

ṣūr

a rock –

דֶּֽרֶךְ־

de·reḵ-

the way

אֳנִיָּ֥ה

’o·nî·yāh

of a ship

בְלֶב־

ḇə·leḇ-

in the midst

– יָ֑ם

yām;

of the sea –

וְדֶ֖רֶךְ

wə·ḏe·reḵ

and the way

גֶּ֣בֶר

ge·ḇer

of a man

. בְּעַלְמָֽה׃

bə·‘al·māh.

with a virgin .

כֵּ֤ן ׀

kên

This [is]

דֶּ֥רֶךְ

de·reḵ

the way

– אִשָּׁ֗ה

’iš·šāh,

of an woman –

מְנָ֫אָ֥פֶת

mə·nā·’ā·p̄eṯ

､ אָ֭כְלָה

’ā·ḵə·lāh

וּמָ֣חֲתָה

ū·mā·ḥă·ṯāh

､ פִ֑יהָ

p̄î·hā;

､ וְ֝אָמְרָ֗ה

wə·’ā·mə·rāh,

and says ､

לֹֽא־

lō-

. אָֽוֶן׃

is perturbed ､

אֶ֑רֶץ

’e·reṣ;

וְתַ֥חַת

wə·ṯa·ḥaṯ

אַ֝רְבַּ֗ע

’ar·ba‘,

לֹא־

lō-

תוּכַ֥ל

ṯū·ḵal

it

– שְׂאֵֽת׃

śə·’êṯ.

bear up –

תַּֽחַת־

ta·ḥaṯ-

עֶ֭בֶד

‘e·ḇeḏ

כִּ֣י

kî

– יִמְל֑וֹךְ

yim·lō·wḵ;

he reigns –

וְ֝נָבָ֗ל

wə·nā·ḇāl,

and a fool

כִּ֣י

kî

יִֽשְׂבַּֽע־

yiś·ba‘-

he is filled

– לָֽחֶם׃

lā·ḥem.

with food –

תַּ֣חַת

ta·ḥaṯ

שְׂ֭נוּאָה

nū·’āh

a hateful [woman]

כִּ֣י

kî

– תִבָּעֵ֑ל

ṯib·bā·‘êl;

she is married –

וְ֝שִׁפְחָ֗ה

wə·šip̄·ḥāh,

and a maidservant

כִּֽי־

kî-

תִירַ֥שׁ

ṯî·raš

. גְּבִרְתָּֽהּ׃

gə·ḇir·tāh.

אַרְבָּ֣עָה

’ar·bā·‘āh

הֵ֭ם

hêm

קְטַנֵּי־

qə·ṭan·nê-

､ אָ֑רֶץ

’ā·reṣ;

on the earth ､

וְ֝הֵ֗מָּה

wə·hêm·māh,

but they [are]

חֲכָמִ֥ים

ḥă·ḵā·mîm

– מְחֻכָּמִֽים׃

mə·ḥuk·kā·mîm.

exceedingly wise –

הַ֭נְּמָלִים

han·nə·mā·lîm

the ants [are]

עַ֣ם

‘am

לֹא־

lō-

not

､ עָ֑ז

‘āz;

וַיָּכִ֖ינוּ

way·yā·ḵî·nū

and yet they prepare

– בַקַּ֣יִץ

ḇaq·qa·yiṣ

in the summer –

. לַחְמָֽם׃

laḥ·mām.

שְׁ֭פַנִּים

p̄an·nîm

The rock badgers are

､ עַ֣ם

‘am

a folk ､

לֹא־

lō-

not

עָצ֑וּם

‘ā·ṣūm;

וַיָּשִׂ֖ימוּ

way·yā·śî·mū

and yet they make

– בַסֶּ֣לַע

ḇas·se·la‘

in the crags –

. בֵּיתָֽם׃

bê·ṯām.

､ מֶ֭לֶךְ

me·leḵ

King ､

אֵ֣ין

’ên

לָאַרְבֶּ֑ה

lā·’ar·beh;

וַיֵּצֵ֖א

way·yê·ṣê

and yet they advance

– חֹצֵ֣ץ

ḥō·ṣêṣ

in ranks –

. כֻּלּֽוֹ׃

kul·lōw.

שְׂ֭מָמִית

mā·mîṯ

､ בְּיָדַ֣יִם

bə·yā·ḏa·yim

with its hands ､

תְּתַפֵּ֑שׂ

tə·ṯap·pêś;

skillfully grasps

וְ֝הִ֗יא

wə·hî,

and it [is]

בְּהֵ֣יכְלֵי

bə·hê·ḵə·lê

. מֶֽלֶךְ׃

me·leḵ.

שְׁלֹשָׁ֣ה

šə·lō·šāh

הֵ֭מָּה

hêm·māh

､ מֵיטִ֣יבֵי

mê·ṭî·ḇê

[which] are majestic ､

צָ֑עַד

ṣā·‘aḏ;

וְ֝אַרְבָּעָ֗ה

wə·’ar·bā·‘āh,

מֵיטִ֥בֵי

mê·ṭi·ḇê

[which] are stately

– לָֽכֶת׃

lā·ḵeṯ.

in walk –

לַ֭יִשׁ

la·yiš

גִּבּ֣וֹר

gib·bō·wr

[which is] mighty

､ בַּבְּהֵמָ֑ה

bab·bə·hê·māh;

among beasts ､

וְלֹא־

wə·lō-

and not

יָ֝שׁ֗וּב

yā·šūḇ,

מִפְּנֵי־

mip·pə·nê-

– כֹֽל׃

ḵōl.

any –

זַרְזִ֣יר

zar·zîr

מָתְנַ֣יִם

mā·ṯə·na·yim

– אוֹ־

’ōw-

also –

תָ֑יִשׁ

ṯā·yiš;

､ וּ֝מֶ֗לֶךְ

ū·me·leḵ,

and a king ､

אַלְק֥וּם

’al·qūm

[whose] troops [are]

. עִמּֽוֹ׃

‘im·mōw.

with him .

אִם־

’im-

If

נָבַ֥לְתָּ

nā·ḇal·tā

you have been foolish

､ בְהִתְנַשֵּׂ֑א

ḇə·hiṯ·naś·śê;

in exalting yourself ､

וְאִם־

wə·’im-

Or if

､ זַ֝מּ֗וֹתָ

zam·mō·w·ṯā,

you have devised evil ､

יָ֣ד

yāḏ

[put your] hand

. לְפֶֽה׃

lə·p̄eh.

on [your] mouth .

כִּ֤י

kî

For [as]

מִ֪יץ

mîṣ

חָלָ֡ב

ḥā·lāḇ

י֘וֹצִ֤יא

yō·w·ṣî

､ חֶמְאָ֗ה

ḥem·’āh,

וּֽמִיץ־

ū·mîṣ-

אַ֭ף

’ap̄

the nose

י֣וֹצִיא

yō·w·ṣî

– דָ֑ם

ḏām;

וּמִ֥יץ

ū·mîṣ

so the forcing

אַ֝פַּ֗יִם

’ap·pa·yim,

י֣וֹצִיא

yō·w·ṣî

. רִֽיב׃
