､ לְמוּאֵ֣ל

of Lemuel ､

מֶ֑לֶךְ

me·leḵ;

מַ֝שָּׂ֗א

maś·śā,

אֲ‍ֽשֶׁר־

’ăšer-

יִסְּרַ֥תּוּ

yis·sə·rat·tū

. אִמּֽוֹ׃

’im·mōw.

､ מַה־

mah-

What ､

؟ בְּ֭רִי

bə·rî

my son ؟

､ וּמַֽה־

ū·mah-

and what ､

בַּר־

bar-

؟ בִּטְנִ֑י

biṭ·nî;

of my womb ؟

､ וּ֝מֶה

ū·meh

and what ､

בַּר־

bar-

؟ נְדָרָֽי׃

nə·ḏā·rāy.

of my vows ؟

אַל־

’al-

not

תִּתֵּ֣ן

tit·tên

､ לַנָּשִׁ֣ים

lan·nā·šîm

to women ､

חֵילֶ֑ךָ

ḥê·le·ḵā;

וּ֝דְרָכֶ֗יךָ

ū·ḏə·rā·ḵe·ḵā,

לַֽמְח֥וֹת

lam·ḥō·wṯ

to that which destroys

. מְלָכִֽין׃

mə·lā·ḵîn.

אַ֤ל

’al

[it is] not

､ לַֽמְלָכִ֨ים ׀

lam·lā·ḵîm

､ לְֽמוֹאֵ֗ל

lə·mō·w·’êl,

אַ֣ל

’al

[it is] not

לַֽמְלָכִ֣ים

lam·lā·ḵîm

שְׁתוֹ־

šə·ṯōw-

– יָ֑יִן

yā·yin;

wine –

וּ֝לְרוֹזְנִ֗ים

ū·lə·rō·wz·nîm,

nor for princes

[או]

’ōw

(אֵ֣י)

’ê

– שֵׁכָֽר׃

šê·ḵār.

intoxicating drink –

פֶּן־

pen-

､ יִ֭שְׁתֶּה

yiš·teh

וְיִשְׁכַּ֣ח

wə·yiš·kaḥ

､ מְחֻקָּ֑ק

mə·ḥuq·qāq;

the law ､

וִֽ֝ישַׁנֶּה

wî·šan·neh

דִּ֣ין

dîn

כָּל־

kāl-

of all

בְּנֵי־

bə·nê-

of the afflicted

. עֹֽנִי׃

‘ō·nî.

the afflicted .

תְּנוּ־

tə·nū-

שֵׁכָ֣ר

šê·ḵār

､ לְאוֹבֵ֑ד

lə·’ō·w·ḇêḏ;

to him who is perishing ､

וְ֝יַיִן

wə·ya·yin

and wine

לְמָ֣רֵי

lə·mā·rê

to those who are bitter

. נָֽפֶשׁ׃

nā·p̄eš.

of heart .

､ יִ֭שְׁתֶּה

yiš·teh

Let him drink ､

וְיִשְׁכַּ֣ח

wə·yiš·kaḥ

､ רִישׁ֑וֹ

rî·šōw;

his poverty ､

וַ֝עֲמָל֗וֹ

wa·‘ă·mā·lōw,

לֹ֣א

יִזְכָּר־

yiz·kār-

. עֽוֹד׃

‘ō·wḏ.

פְּתַח־

pə·ṯaḥ-

פִּ֥יךָ

pî·ḵā

לְאִלֵּ֑ם

lə·’il·lêm;

אֶל־

’el-

in

דִּ֝֗ין

dîn,

כָּל־

kāl-

of all

בְּנֵ֥י

bə·nê

. חֲלֽוֹף׃

ḥă·lō·wp̄.

[who are appointed] to die .

פְּתַח־

pə·ṯaḥ-

､ פִּ֥יךָ

pî·ḵā

שְׁפָט־

šə·p̄āṭ-

､ צֶ֑דֶק

ṣe·ḏeq;

righteously ､

וְ֝דִ֗ין

wə·ḏîn,

and plead the cause

עָנִ֥י

‘ā·nî

of the poor

. וְאֶבְיֽוֹן׃

wə·’eḇ·yō·wn.

and needy .

The Virtues of Noble Woman

؟ אֵֽשֶׁת־

’ê·šeṯ-

A wife ؟

חַ֭יִל

ḥa·yil

מִ֣י

mî

יִמְצָ֑א

yim·ṣā;

וְרָחֹ֖ק

wə·rā·ḥōq

and far

מִפְּנִינִ֣ים

mip·pə·nî·nîm

. מִכְרָֽהּ׃

miḵ·rāh.

for her worth [is] .

בָּ֣טַח

bā·ṭaḥ

בָּ֭הּ

bāh

לֵ֣ב

lêḇ

בַּעְלָ֑הּ

ba‘·lāh;

וְ֝שָׁלָ֗ל

wə·šā·lāl,

לֹ֣א

. יֶחְסָֽר׃

yeḥ·sār.

he will have lack of .

גְּמָלַ֣תְהוּ

gə·mā·laṯ·hū

ט֣וֹב

וְלֹא־

wə·lō-

and not

רָ֑ע

כֹּ֝֗ל

kōl,

יְמֵ֣י

yə·mê

the days

. חַיֶּֽיה׃‪‬

ḥay·yeh

דָּ֭רְשָׁה

dā·rə·šāh

､ צֶ֣מֶר

ṣe·mer

wool ､

､ וּפִשְׁתִּ֑ים

ū·p̄iš·tîm;

and flax ､

וַ֝תַּ֗עַשׂ

wat·ta·‘aś,

בְּחֵ֣פֶץ

bə·ḥê·p̄eṣ

. כַּפֶּֽיהָ׃

kap·pe·hā.

הָ֭יְתָה

hā·yə·ṯāh

She is

– כָּאֳנִיּ֣וֹת

kā·’o·nî·yō·wṯ

like the ships –

סוֹחֵ֑ר

sō·w·ḥêr;

מִ֝מֶּרְחָ֗ק

mim·mer·ḥāq,

תָּבִ֥יא

tā·ḇî

. לַחְמָֽהּ׃

laḥ·māh.

וַתָּ֤קָם ׀

wat·tā·qām

בְּע֬וֹד

bə·‘ō·wḏ

､ לַ֗יְלָה

lay·lāh,

it is night ､

וַתִּתֵּ֣ן

wat·tit·tên

טֶ֣רֶף

ṭe·rep̄

､ לְבֵיתָ֑הּ

lə·ḇê·ṯāh;

for her household ､

וְ֝חֹ֗ק

wə·ḥōq,

. לְנַעֲרֹתֶֽיהָ׃

lə·na·‘ă·rō·ṯe·hā.

for her maidservants .

זָמְמָ֣ה

zā·mə·māh

､ שָׂ֭דֶה

ḏeh

a field ､

וַתִּקָּחֵ֑הוּ

wat·tiq·qā·ḥê·hū;

and buys it

מִפְּרִ֥י

mip·pə·rî

כַ֝פֶּ֗יהָ

ḵap·pe·hā,

[נטע]

nə·ṭa‘

-

(נָ֣טְעָה)

nā·ṭə·‘āh

. כָּֽרֶם׃

kā·rem.

חָֽגְרָ֣ה

ḥā·ḡə·rāh

She girds herself

､ בְע֣וֹז

ḇə·‘ō·wz

with strength ､

מָתְנֶ֑יהָ

mā·ṯə·ne·hā;

וַ֝תְּאַמֵּ֗ץ

wat·tə·’am·mêṣ,

and strengthens

. זְרֹעוֹתֶֽיהָ׃

zə·rō·‘ō·w·ṯe·hā.

טָ֭עֲמָה

ṭā·‘ă·māh

כִּי־

kî-

– ט֣וֹב

ṭō·wḇ

good –

סַחְרָ֑הּ

saḥ·rāh;

her merchandise [is]

לֹֽא־

lō-

not

יִכְבֶּ֖ה

yiḵ·beh

and does go out

[בליל]

ḇal·la·yil

-

(בַלַּ֣יְלָה)

ḇal·lay·lāh

. נֵרָֽהּ׃

nê·rāh.

יָ֭דֶיהָ

yā·ḏe·hā

שִׁלְּחָ֣ה

šil·lə·ḥāh

she stretches out

､ בַכִּישׁ֑וֹר

ḇak·kî·šō·wr;

to the distaff ､

וְ֝כַפֶּ֗יהָ

wə·ḵap·pe·hā,

תָּ֣מְכוּ

tā·mə·ḵū

. פָֽלֶךְ׃

p̄ā·leḵ.

כַּ֭פָּהּ

kap·pāh

פָּרְשָׂ֣ה

pā·rə·śāh

– לֶעָנִ֑י

le·‘ā·nî;

to the poor –

וְ֝יָדֶ֗יהָ

wə·yā·ḏe·hā,

and Yes her hands

שִׁלְּחָ֥ה

šil·lə·ḥāh

she reaches out

. לָֽאֶבְיֽוֹן׃

lā·’eḇ·yō·wn.

to the needy .

לֹא־

תִירָ֣א

､ לְבֵיתָ֣הּ

lə·ḇê·ṯāh

for her household ､

מִשָּׁ֑לֶג

miš·šā·leḡ;

כִּ֥י

kî

כָל־

ḵāl

בֵּ֝יתָ֗הּ

bê·ṯāh,

לָבֻ֥שׁ

lā·ḇuš

. שָׁנִֽים׃

šā·nîm.

with scarlet .

– מַרְבַדִּ֥ים

mar·ḇad·dîm

עָֽשְׂתָה־

‘ā·śə·ṯāh-

לָּ֑הּ

lāh;

שֵׁ֖שׁ

šêš

וְאַרְגָּמָ֣ן

wə·’ar·gā·mān

. לְבוּשָֽׁהּ׃

lə·ḇū·šāh.

Her clothing [is] .

נוֹדָ֣ע

nō·w·ḏā‘

､ בַּשְּׁעָרִ֣ים

baš·šə·‘ā·rîm

in the gates ､

בַּעְלָ֑הּ

ba‘·lāh;

בְּ֝שִׁבְתּ֗וֹ

bə·šiḇ·tōw,

עִם־

‘im-

זִקְנֵי־

ziq·nê-

. אָֽרֶץ׃

’ā·reṣ.

of the land .

､ סָדִ֣ין

sā·ḏîn

Linen garments ､

עָ֭שְׂתָה

‘ā·śə·ṯāh

וַתִּמְכֹּ֑ר

wat·tim·kōr;

and sells [them]

וַ֝חֲג֗וֹר

wa·ḥă·ḡō·wr,

נָתְנָ֥ה

nā·ṯə·nāh

. לַֽכְּנַעֲנִֽי׃

lak·kə·na·‘ă·nî.

for the merchant .

עֹז־

‘ōz-

וְהָדָ֥ר

wə·hā·ḏār

– לְבוּשָׁ֑הּ

lə·ḇū·šāh;

[are] her clothing –

וַ֝תִּשְׂחַ֗ק

wat·tiś·ḥaq,

and she shall rejoice

לְי֣וֹם

lə·yō·wm

. אַחֲרֽוֹן׃

’a·ḥă·rō·wn.

to come .

פִּ֭יהָ

pî·hā

פָּתְחָ֣ה

pā·ṯə·ḥāh

– בְחָכְמָ֑ה

ḇə·ḥā·ḵə·māh;

with wisdom –

וְתֽוֹרַת־

wə·ṯō·w·raṯ-

and the law

חֶ֝֗סֶד

ḥe·seḏ,

עַל־

‘al-

on

. לְשׁוֹנָֽהּ׃

lə·šō·w·nāh.

her tongue [is] .

צ֭וֹפִיָּה

ṣō·w·p̄î·yāh

הֲלִיכ֣וֹת

hă·lî·ḵō·wṯ

､ בֵּיתָ֑הּ

bê·ṯāh;

of her household ､

וְלֶ֥חֶם

wə·le·ḥem

and the bread

עַ֝צְל֗וּת

‘aṣ·lūṯ,

לֹ֣א

lō

not

. תֹאכֵֽל׃

ṯō·ḵêl.

､ קָ֣מוּ

qā·mū

Rise up ､

בָ֭נֶיהָ

ḇā·ne·hā

– וַֽיְאַשְּׁר֑וּהָ

way·’aš·šə·rū·hā;

and call her blessed –

בַּ֝עְלָ֗הּ

ba‘·lāh,

Her husband [also]

. וַֽיְהַֽלְלָהּ׃‪‬‪‬

way·hal·lāh.

and he praises her .

רַבּ֣וֹת

rab·bō·wṯ

בָּ֭נוֹת

bā·nō·wṯ

עָ֣שׂוּ

‘ā·śū

､ חָ֑יִל

ḥā·yil;

well ､

וְ֝אַ֗תְּ

wə·’at,

but you

עָלִ֥ית

‘ā·lîṯ

עַל־

‘al-

. כֻּלָּֽנָה׃

kul·lā·nāh.

､ שֶׁ֣קֶר

še·qer

הַ֭חֵן

ha·ḥên

Charm [is]

､ וְהֶ֣בֶל

wə·he·ḇel

and passing ､

הַיֹּ֑פִי

hay·yō·p̄î;

אִשָּׁ֥ה

’iš·šāh

but a woman

יִרְאַת־

yir·’aṯ-

יְ֝הוָ֗ה

Yah·weh

הִ֣יא

hî

. תִתְהַלָּֽל׃

ṯiṯ·hal·lāl.

shall be praised .

תְּנוּ־

tə·nū-

לָ֭הּ

lāh

מִפְּרִ֣י

mip·pə·rî

of the fruit

– יָדֶ֑יהָ

yā·ḏe·hā;

of her hands –

וִֽיהַלְל֖וּהָ

wî·hal·lū·hā

and let praise her

בַשְּׁעָרִ֣ים

ḇaš·šə·‘ā·rîm

in the gates

. מַעֲשֶֽׂיהָ׃

ma·‘ă·śe·hā.

her own works .
