The Four Chariots

､ וָאָשֻׁ֗ב

wā·’ā·šuḇ,

And I turned ､

וָאֶשָּׂ֤א

wā·’eś·śā

､ עֵינַי֙

‘ê·nay

my eyes ､

､ וָֽאֶרְאֶ֔ה

wā·’er·’eh,

and looked ､

､ וְהִנֵּ֨ה

wə·hin·nêh

and behold ､

אַרְבַּ֤ע

’ar·ba‘

מַרְכָּבוֹת֙

mar·kā·ḇō·wṯ

יֹֽצְא֔וֹת

yō·ṣə·’ō·wṯ,

מִבֵּ֖ין

mib·bên

שְׁנֵ֣י

šə·nê

– הֶֽהָרִ֑ים

he·hā·rîm;

וְהֶהָרִ֖ים

wə·he·hā·rîm

and the mountains [were]

הָרֵ֥י

hā·rê

. נְחֹֽשֶׁת׃

nə·ḥō·šeṯ.

בַּמֶּרְכָּבָ֥ה

bam·mer·kā·ḇāh

With chariot [were]

הָרִֽאשֹׁנָ֖ה

hā·ri·šō·nāh

– סוּסִ֣ים

sū·sîm

אֲדֻמִּ֑ים

’ă·ḏum·mîm;

וּבַמֶּרְכָּבָ֥ה

ū·ḇam·mer·kā·ḇāh

and with chariot

הַשֵּׁנִ֖ית

haš·šê·nîṯ

– סוּסִ֥ים

sū·sîm

. שְׁחֹרִֽים׃

šə·ḥō·rîm.

וּבַמֶּרְכָּבָ֥ה

ū·ḇam·mer·kā·ḇāh

And with chariot

הַשְּׁלִשִׁ֖ית

haš·šə·li·šîṯ

– סוּסִ֣ים

sū·sîm

לְבָנִ֑ים

lə·ḇā·nîm;

וּבַמֶּרְכָּבָה֙

ū·ḇam·mer·kā·ḇāh

and with chariot

הָרְבִעִ֔ית

hā·rə·ḇi·‘îṯ,

סוּסִ֥ים

sū·sîm

בְּרֻדִּ֖ים

bə·rud·dîm

. אֲמֻצִּֽים׃

’ă·muṣ·ṣîm.

strong [steeds] .

וָאַ֙עַן֙

wā·’a·‘an

וָֽאֹמַ֔ר

wā·’ō·mar,

and said

אֶל־

’el-

to

הַמַּלְאָ֖ךְ

ham·mal·’āḵ

הַדֹּבֵ֣ר

had·dō·ḇêr

בִּ֑י

bî;

with me

מָה־

māh-

､ אֵ֖לֶּה

’êl·leh

؟ אֲדֹנִֽי׃

’ă·ḏō·nî.

my lord ؟

וַיַּ֥עַן

way·ya·‘an

הַמַּלְאָ֖ךְ

ham·mal·’āḵ

וַיֹּ֣אמֶר

way·yō·mer

and said

אֵלָ֑י

’ê·lāy;

to me

אֵ֗לֶּה

’êl·leh,

אַרְבַּע֙

’ar·ba‘

רֻח֣וֹת

ru·ḥō·wṯ

､ הַשָּׁמַ֔יִם

haš·šā·ma·yim,

of heaven ､

יוֹצְא֕וֹת

yō·wṣ·’ō·wṯ

מֵֽהִתְיַצֵּ֖ב

mê·hiṯ·yaṣ·ṣêḇ

from [their] station

עַל־

‘al-

אֲד֥וֹן

’ă·ḏō·wn

the Lord

כָּל־

kāl-

of all

. הָאָֽרֶץ׃

hā·’ā·reṣ.

the earth .

אֲשֶׁר־

’ă·šer-

The one

בָּ֞הּ

bāh

with

הַסּוּסִ֣ים

has·sū·sîm

הַשְּׁחֹרִ֗ים

haš·šə·ḥō·rîm,

יֹֽצְאִים֙

yō·ṣə·’îm

אֶל־

’el-

to

– אֶ֣רֶץ

’e·reṣ

the country –

צָפ֔וֹן

ṣā·p̄ō·wn,

וְהַלְּבָנִ֔ים

wə·hal·lə·ḇā·nîm,

and the white

יָצְא֖וּ

yā·ṣə·’ū

אֶל־

’el-

to

אַֽחֲרֵיהֶ֑ם

’a·ḥă·rê·hem;

וְהַ֨בְּרֻדִּ֔ים

wə·hab·bə·rud·dîm,

and the spotted

יָצְא֖וּ

yā·ṣə·’ū

אֶל־

’el-

אֶ֥רֶץ

’e·reṣ

. הַתֵּימָֽן׃

hat·tê·mān.

the south .

וְהָאֲמֻצִּ֣ים

wə·hā·’ă·muṣ·ṣîm

And the strong [steeds]

､ יָצְא֗וּ

yā·ṣə·’ū,

וַיְבַקְשׁוּ֙

way·ḇaq·šū

לָלֶ֙כֶת֙

lā·le·ḵeṯ

to go

לְהִתְהַלֵּ֣ך‪‬

lə·hiṯ·hal·lêḵ

that they might walk to and fro

. בָּאָ֔רֶץ

bā·’ā·reṣ,

throughout the earth .

､ וַיֹּ֕אמֶר

way·yō·mer

And He said ､

､ לְכ֖וּ

lə·ḵū

go ､

הִתְהַלְּכ֣וּ

hiṯ·hal·lə·ḵū

walk to and fro

בָאָ֑רֶץ

ḇā·’ā·reṣ;

throughout the earth

וַתִּתְהַלַּ֖כְנָה

wat·tiṯ·hal·laḵ·nāh

so they walked to and fro

. בָּאָֽרֶץ׃

bā·’ā·reṣ.

throughout the earth .

וַיַּזְעֵ֣ק

way·yaz·‘êq

And He called

אֹתִ֔י

’ō·ṯî,

to me

וַיְדַבֵּ֥ר

way·ḏab·bêr

אֵלַ֖י

’ê·lay

to me

､ לֵאמֹ֑ר

lê·mōr;

､ רְאֵ֗ה

rə·’êh,

See ､

הַיּֽוֹצְאִים֙

hay·yō·wṣ·’îm

אֶל־

’el-

אֶ֣רֶץ

’e·reṣ

צָפ֔וֹן

ṣā·p̄ō·wn,

הֵנִ֥יחוּ

hê·nî·ḥū

have given rest

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

רוּחִ֖י

rū·ḥî

to My Spirit

בְּאֶ֥רֶץ

bə·’e·reṣ

in the country

. צָפֽוֹן׃

ṣā·p̄ō·wn.

The Crown and the Temple

וַיְהִ֥י

way·hî

And came

דְבַר־

ḏə·ḇar-

the word

יְהוָ֖ה

Yah·weh

אֵלַ֥י

’ê·lay

to me

､ לֵאמֹֽר׃

lê·mōr.

לָק֙וֹחַ֙

lā·qō·w·aḥ

Receive [the gift]

מֵאֵ֣ת

mê·’êṯ

､ הַגּוֹלָ֔ה

hag·gō·w·lāh,

the captives ､

מֵחֶלְדַּ֕י

mê·ḥel·day

וּמֵאֵ֥ת

ū·mê·’êṯ

and

､ טוֹבִיָּ֖ה

ṭō·w·ḇî·yāh

וּמֵאֵ֣ת

ū·mê·’êṯ

and

､ יְדַֽעְיָ֑ה

yə·ḏa‘·yāh;

וּבָאתָ֤

ū·ḇā·ṯā

and go

אַתָּה֙

’at·tāh

､ בַּיּ֣וֹם

bay·yō·wm

day ､

הַה֔וּא

ha·hū,

וּבָ֗אתָ

ū·ḇā·ṯā,

בֵּ֚ית

bêṯ

יֹאשִׁיָּ֣ה

yō·šî·yāh

בֶן־

ḇen-

– צְפַנְיָ֔ה

ṣə·p̄an·yāh,

of Zephaniah –

אֲשֶׁר־

’ă·šer-

בָּ֖אוּ

bā·’ū

. מִבָּבֶֽל׃

mib·bā·ḇel.

וְלָקַחְתָּ֥

wə·lā·qaḥ·tā

And take

כֶֽסֶף־

ḵe·sep̄-

､ וְזָהָ֖ב

wə·zā·hāḇ

and gold ､

וְעָשִׂ֣יתָ

wə·‘ā·śî·ṯā

and make

､ עֲטָר֑וֹת

‘ă·ṭā·rō·wṯ;

an elaborate crown ､

וְשַׂמְתָּ֗

wə·śam·tā,

and set [it]

בְּרֹ֛אשׁ

bə·rōš

on the head

יְהוֹשֻׁ֥עַ

yə·hō·wō·šu·a‘

בֶּן־

ben-

､ יְהוֹצָדָ֖ק

yə·hō·w·ṣā·ḏāq

of Jehozadak ､

– הַכֹּהֵ֥ן

hak·kō·hên

the priest –

. הַגָּדֽוֹל׃

hag·gā·ḏō·wl.

וְאָמַרְתָּ֤

wə·’ā·mar·tā

אֵלָיו֙

’ê·lāw

to him

､ לֵאמֹ֔ר

lê·mōr,

כֹּ֥ה

kōh

אָמַ֛ר

’ā·mar

יְהוָ֥ה

Yah·weh

､ צְבָא֖וֹת

ṣə·ḇā·’ō·wṯ

of hosts ､

､ לֵאמֹ֑ר

lê·mōr;

הִנֵּה־

hin·nêh-

אִ֞ישׁ

’îš

the Man

– צֶ֤מַח

ṣe·maḥ

the BRANCH –

שְׁמוֹ֙

šə·mōw

whose name [is]

､ וּמִתַּחְתָּ֣יו

ū·mit·taḥ·tāw

and from His place ､

יִצְמָ֔ח

yiṣ·māḥ,

He shall branch out

וּבָנָ֖ה

ū·ḇā·nāh

and He shall build

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

הֵיכַ֥ל

hê·ḵal

. יְהוָֽהּ׃‪‬‪‬

Yah·weh.

וְ֠הוּא

wə·hū

And Yes He

יִבְנֶ֞ה

yiḇ·neh

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

הֵיכַ֤ל

hê·ḵal

– יְהוָה֙

Yah·weh

of Yahweh –

וְהֽוּא־

wə·hū-

and He

יִשָּׂ֣א

yiś·śā

､ ה֔וֹד

hō·wḏ,

the glory ､

וְיָשַׁ֥ב

wə·yā·šaḇ

וּמָשַׁ֖ל

ū·mā·šal

and rule

עַל־

‘al-

on

– כִּסְא֑וֹ

kis·’ōw;

וְהָיָ֤ה

wə·hā·yāh

so He shall be

כֹהֵן֙

ḵō·hên

עַל־

‘al-

on

､ כִּסְא֔וֹ

kis·’ōw,

וַעֲצַ֣ת

wa·‘ă·ṣaṯ

and the counsel

שָׁל֔וֹם

šā·lō·wm,

תִּהְיֶ֖ה

tih·yeh

בֵּ֥ין

bên

. שְׁנֵיהֶֽם׃

šə·nê·hem.

the two of them .

וְהָעֲטָרֹ֗ת

wə·hā·‘ă·ṭā·rōṯ,

And the elaborate crown

תִּֽהְיֶה֙

tih·yeh

､ לְחֵ֙לֶם֙

lə·ḥê·lem

､ וּלְטוֹבִיָּ֣ה

ū·lə·ṭō·w·ḇî·yāh

and Tobiah ､

､ וְלִידַֽעְיָ֔ה

wə·lî·ḏa‘·yāh,

and Jedaiah ､

וּלְחֵ֖ן

ū·lə·ḥên

and Hen

בֶּן־

ben-

､ צְפַנְיָ֑ה

ṣə·p̄an·yāh;

of Zephaniah ､

לְזִכָּר֖וֹן

lə·zik·kā·rō·wn

בְּהֵיכַ֥ל

bə·hê·ḵal

in the temple

. יְהוָֽה׃

Yah·weh.

וּרְחוֹקִ֣ים ׀

ū·rə·ḥō·w·qîm

And Even those from afar

יָבֹ֗אוּ

yā·ḇō·’ū,

וּבָנוּ֙

ū·ḇā·nū

בְּהֵיכַ֣ל

bə·hê·ḵal

､ יְהוָ֔ה

Yah·weh,

of Yahweh ､

וִידַעְתֶּ֕ם

wî·ḏa‘·tem

then you shall know

כִּֽי־

kî-

יְהוָ֥ה

Yah·weh

צְבָא֖וֹת

ṣə·ḇā·’ō·wṯ

שְׁלָחַ֣נִי

šə·lā·ḥa·nî

אֲלֵיכֶ֑ם

’ă·lê·ḵem;

to you

､ וְהָיָה֙

wə·hā·yāh

and [this] shall come to pass ､

אִם־

’im-

if

שָׁמ֣וֹעַ

šā·mō·w·a‘

תִּשְׁמְע֔וּן

tiš·mə·‘ūn,

בְּק֖וֹל

bə·qō·wl

יְהוָ֥ה

Yah·weh

. אֱלֹהֵיכֶֽם׃

’ĕ·lō·hê·ḵem.
