'Here I Am' in the Bible

Now it came about after these things, that God tested Abraham, and said to him, “Abraham!” And he said, “Here I am.”

Isaac spoke to Abraham his father and said, “My father!” And he said, “Here I am, my son.” And he said, “Behold, the fire and the wood, but where is the lamb for the burnt offering?”

But the angel of the Lord called to him from heaven and said, “Abraham, Abraham!” And he said, “Here I am.”

Now it came about, when Isaac was old and his eyes were too dim to see, that he called his older son Esau and said to him, “My son.” And he said to him, “Here I am.”

Then he came to his father and said, “My father.” And he said, “Here I am. Who are you, my son?”

Then the angel of God said to me in the dream, ‘Jacob,’ and I said, ‘Here I am.’

Here I am; bear witness against me before the Lord and His anointed. Whose ox have I taken, or whose donkey have I taken, or whom have I defrauded? Whom have I oppressed, or from whose hand have I taken a bribe to blind my eyes with it? I will restore it to you.”

His armor bearer said to him, “Do all that is in your heart; turn yourself, and here I am with you according to your desire.”

Then Saul said to Jonathan, “Tell me what you have done.” So Jonathan told him and said, “I indeed tasted a little honey with the end of the staff that was in my hand. Here I am, I must die!”

Saul said, “Listen now, son of Ahitub.” And he answered, “Here I am, my lord.”

When he looked behind him, he saw me and called to me. And I said, ‘Here I am.’

But if He should say thus, ‘I have no delight in you,’ behold, here I am, let Him do to me as seems good to Him.”

Therefore My people shall know My name; therefore in that day I am the one who is speaking, ‘Here I am.’”

Then Jesus cried out in the temple, teaching and saying, “You both know Me and know where I am from; and I have not come of Myself, but He who sent Me is true, whom you do not know.

You will seek Me, and will not find Me; and where I am, you cannot come.”

What is this statement that He said, ‘You will seek Me, and will not find Me; and where I am, you cannot come’?”

Jesus answered and said to them, “Even if I testify about Myself, My testimony is true, for I know where I came from and where I am going; but you do not know where I come from or where I am going.

So the Jews were saying, “Surely He will not kill Himself, will He, since He says, ‘Where I am going, you cannot come’?”

Little children, I am with you a little while longer. You will seek Me; and as I said to the Jews, now I also say to you, ‘Where I am going, you cannot come.’

And you know the way where I am going.”

Now there was a disciple at Damascus named Ananias; and the Lord said to him in a vision, “Ananias.” And he said, “Here I am, Lord.”
