40 Bible Verses about Faithlessness, As Disobedience

And he coming will convince the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: Of sin, because they believe not on me;

And that we may be delivered from unreasonable and wicked men; for all men have not faith.

To the clean all things are clean; but to the defiled and unbelieving nothing is clean; but both their understanding and conscience are defiled. They profess to know God, but by their works they deny him, being abominable and disobedient, and void of judgment as to every good work.

Then Herod, seeing that he was deluded by the wise men, was exceeding wroth, and sending forth, slew all the male children that were in Bethlehem, and in all the confines thereof, from two years old and under; according to the time which he had exactly inquired of the wise men.

And about that time, there arose no small tumult concerning the way. For a man named Demetrius, a silver smith, who made silver shrines of Diana, procured no small gain to the artificers: Whom having gathered together, with the workmen employed in such things, he said, Sirs, ye know, that our maintenance arises from this occupation.read more.
But ye see and hear, that not at Ephesus only, but almost through all Asia, this Paul hath persuaded and turned aside much people, saying, That they are not gods, which are made with hands. So that there is danger, not only that this our craft should be set at nought, but also that the temple of the great goddess Diana should be despised, and her majesty destroyed, whom all Asia, and the world worshipeth.

He that believeth on the Son, hath everlasting life: but he that obeyeth not the Son, shall not see life, but the wrath of God abideth on him.

He that believeth and is baptized, shall be saved; but he that believeth not, shall be damned.

Therefore I said, Ye shall die in your sins; for if ye believe not, that I am, ye shall die in your sins.

That they all may be condemned, who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

But the fearful, and unbelieving, and abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, their part is in the lake that burneth with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.

But tho' he had done so many miracles before them, yet they believed not on him; So that the word of the prophet Isaiah was fulfilled which he said, Lord, who hath believed our report? And to whom hath the arm of the Lord been revealed?

Verily, verily I say to thee, we speak what we know, and testify what we have seen; yet ye receive not our testimony. If I have told you earthly things, and ye believe not, how would ye believe, if I told you heavenly things?

And the Father who hath sent me, he hath testified of me: ye have neither heard his voice at any time, nor seen his form. And ye have not his word abiding in you; for whom he hath sent, ye believe not. Search the scriptures: in them ye think ye have eternal life: and it is they that testify of me.read more.
Yet ye will not come to me, that ye may have life.

But because I speak the truth, ye believe me not.

If thou be the Christ, tell us plainly. Jesus answered them, I have told you; yet ye do not believe: the works that I do in my Father's name, they testify of me. But, as I have told you, ye do not believe, because ye are not of my sheep.

And he wrought not many mighty works there, because of their unbelief.

And he could do no miracle there, save that he laid his hands on a few sick and healed them. And he marvelled because of their unbelief. And he went round about thro' the villages teaching.

Jesus saith to him, If thou desirest to be perfect, go, sell what thou hast and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me. But the young man, hearing that saying, went away sorrowful; for he had great possessions.

Then Jesus looking upon him, loved him, and said to him, One thing thou lackest: Go, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, follow me, taking up thy cross. But he was sad at that saying, and went away grieved; for he had great possessions.

Sell all that thou hast, and distribute to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me. And when he heard this, he was very sorrowful; for he was very rich.

And some believed the things that were spoken, and some believed not.

having put me into the ministry, Who was before a blasphemer, and a persecuter, and a reviler; but I obtained mercy, because I did it ignorantly in unbelief.

Therefore I say to you, The kingdom of God shall be taken from you, and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof.

They say to him, He will miserably destroy those wicked men, and will let out the vineyard to other husbandmen who will render him the fruits in their seasons.

What therefore will the lord of the vineyard do? He will come and destroy the husbandmen, and will give the vineyard to others.

Wherefore? Because they sought it, not by faith, but as it were by the works of the law: for they stumbled at that stumbling stone; As it is written, Behold I lay in Sion a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence: and every one that believeth on him shall not be ashamed.

And if some of the branches were broken off, and thou being a wild olive wert grafted in among them, and with them partakest of the root and fatness of the good olive, Boast not against the branches, but if thou boast, thou bearest not the root, but the root thee. Wilt thou say then, The branches were broken off, that I might be grafted in?read more.
Well; they were broken off for unbelief, and thou standest by faith. Be not high-minded, but fear. For if God spared not the natural branches, take heed left he also spare not thee.

And so likewise at the present time, there is a remnant, according to the election of grace.

I say then, Have they stumbled so as to fall? God forbid. But by their fall salvation is come to the Gentiles, to provoke them to jealousy. But if their fall be the riches of the world, and their loss the riches of the Gentiles, how much more their fulness?

But seeing the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, Lord, save me. And immediately Jesus reaching forth his hand, caught him, and saith to him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?

Now: if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the still, will he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith? Therefore take not thought, saying, What shall we eat, or what shall we drink, or what shall we wear? (For after all these things do the heathens seek) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye need all these things,

If then God so cloth the grass, which is to day in the field, and to morrow is cast into the still, how much more will he clothe you, O ye of little faith? And seek not ye, what ye shall eat or what ye shall drink, neither be ye of a doubtful mind. For the nations of the world seek all these things; and your Father knoweth that ye need these things.

And behold there arose a great tempest in the sea, so that the vessel was covered with the waves. But he was asleep. And his disciples coming to him awoke him, saying, Lord, save us; we perish. And he saith to them, Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith? Then arising, he rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm.

But he was asleep on the pillow, in the stern of the boat. And they awake him and say to him, Master, carest thou not that we perish? And he arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, Peace; be still. And the wind ceased and there was a great calm. And he said to them, Why are ye so fearful? How is it, that ye have not faith?

And as they sailed, he fell asleep. And there came down a storm of wind on the lake, and they were filled with water, and were in danger. And they came and awoke him, saying, Master, master, we perish! And he arose and rebuked the wind and the raging of the water, and they ceased, and there was a calm. And he said to them, Where is your faith? But they were afraid and wondered, saying one to another, What manner of man is this? For he commandeth even the winds and the water, and they obey him.

Then Jesus answering said, O unbelieving and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? How long shall I suffer you? Bring him hither to me. And Jesus rebuked the devil, and he went out of him, and the child was cured from that hour. Then the disciples coming to Jesus apart said, Why could not we cast him out?read more.
And Jesus said to them, Because of your unbelief. For verily I say to you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustardseed, ye shall say to this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place, and it shall remove, and nothing shall be impossible to you.

Master, I have brought to thee my son, who hath a dumb spirit. And wheresoever he taketh him, he teareth him, and he foameth and gnasheth with his teeth and pineth away. And I spake to thy disciples to cast him out, and they could not. He answereth them and saith, O faithless generation, how long shall I be with you?

And I besought thy disciples to cast him out, and they could not. And Jesus answering said, O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? How long shall I suffer you? Bring thy son hither. And as he was yet coming, the devil threw him down and tore him: and Jesus rebuked the unclean spirit, and healed the child, and delivered him again to his father.

Jesus knowing it said to them, O ye of little faith, why reason ye among yourselves, because ye have taken no bread? Do ye not yet understand nor remember the five loaves of the five thousand, and how many baskets ye took up? Neither the seven loaves of the four thousand, and how many baskets ye took up?

Then he said to them, O foolish, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken!
