17 Bible Verses about Labor

That fiftieth year shall be a jubilee to you. Ye shall not sow, neither reap that which grows of itself in it, nor gather in it of the undressed vines.

but in the seventh year shall be a Sabbath of solemn rest for the land, a Sabbath to LORD. Thou shall neither sow thy field, nor prune thy vineyard. That which grows of itself of thy harvest thou shall not reap, and the grapes of thy undressed vine thou shall not gather. It shall be a year of solemn rest for the land.

He who tills his land shall have plenty of bread, but he who pursues vanities is void of understanding.

He who tills his land shall have plenty of bread, but he who follows after vanity shall have poverty enough.

The appetite of the laboring man labors for him, for his mouth urges him.

The sleep of a laboring man is sweet, whether he eats little or much, but the fullness of the rich will not allow him to sleep.

I planted, Apollos watered, but God caused growth. So then neither is he who plants anything, nor he who waters, but God who causes growth. Now he who plants and he who waters are one, but each man will receive his own payment according to his own labor. For we are co-workmen of God. Ye are a tillage of God, an edifice of God.

Blessed [are] all who fear LORD, who walk in his ways. For thou shall eat the labor of thy hands. Happy thou shall be, and it shall be well with thee.

Ho, everyone who thirsts, come ye to the waters. And he who has no money, come ye, buy, and eat. Yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price. Why do ye spend money for that which is not bread, and your labor for that which does not satisfy? Hearken diligently to me, and eat ye that which is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness.

Jesus having responded at that time, said, I extol thee, O Father, Lord of the heaven and the earth, because thou hid these things from the wise and intelligent, and revealed them to the childlike. Come to me, all ye who labor and have been burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, because I am meek and lowly in heart, and ye will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is befitting, and my burden is light.

and to aspire to live quietly, and to do your own things, and to work with your own hands, just as we commanded you, so that ye may walk properly toward those outside, and may have nothing lacking.

Let the man who steals steal no more, but rather let him labor, working with his hands the good, so that he may have to give to him who has need.

Carry no bag, no pouch, no shoes, and greet no man on the way. And into whatever house ye enter, first say, Peace to this house. Nevertheless know ye this, that the kingdom of God has come near to you. I say to you, that it will be more tolerable in that day for Sodom, than for that city.

And Jesus went about all the cities and the villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the good-news of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people. But when he saw the multitudes, he felt compassion for them, because they were troubled and dejected, as sheep having no shepherd. Then he says to his disciples, The harvest truly is plentiful, but the workmen are few. read more.
Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth workmen into his harvest.

Jesus answered them and said, Truly, truly, I say to you, ye seek me not because ye saw signs, but because ye ate of the loaves and were filled. Work not for the food that perishes, but for the food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of man will give to you, for God the Father put a seal on this man.

According to the grace of God that was given to me, as a wise master builder, I laid a foundation and another man is building on it. But let each man take heed how he is building on it. For no man can lay another foundation besides that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ. And if any man builds upon this foundation, gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw, read more.
each man's work will become manifest. For the day will make it known, because it is revealed by fire. And the fire will test each man's work of what kind it is. If any man's work that he built on will remain, he will receive benefit. If any man's work will be burned, he will suffer loss, but he himself will be saved, but so as through fire.

nor did we eat bread gratis from any man, but in labor and toil, working night and day in order not to burden any of you.

For it is God who works in you both to desire and to work for approval.

Cursed be he who does the work of LORD negligently, and cursed be he who keeps back his sword from blood.

And this is the reason for the conscription which king Solomon raised to build the house of LORD, and his own house, and Millo, and the wall of Jerusalem, and Hazor, and Megiddo, and Gezer.

their sons who were left after them in the land, whom the sons of Israel were not able utterly to destroy, of them Solomon raised a conscription of bondservants to this day.

And king Solomon raised a conscription out of all Israel, and the conscription was thirty thousand men.
