But the Pharisees having heard, that he had silenced the Saducees, were gathered together.

And he saith to them, Is it lawful to do good on the sabbath, or to do evil? To save life or to kill?

And they could not take hold of his words before the people; and marvelling at his answer, they held their peace.

And beholding the man who had been healed, standing with them, they had nothing to say against it.

Now we know that whatsoever the law saith, it saith to them that are under the law; that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world be found guilty before God.

And he desired Philip to come up, and sit with him. The portion of scripture which he was reading, was this, He was led as a sheep to the slaughter, and like a lamb dumb before his shearer, so he opened not his mouth.

But Jesus held his peace. And the high priest answering said to him, I adjure thee by the living God, to tell us, if thou art the Christ, the Son of God?

What is it which these witness against thee? But he held his peace and answered nothing. Again the high priest asked him and said to him, Art thou the Christ, the Son of the Blessed?

And he answered him to never a word, so that the governour marvelled greatly.

And Pilate asked him again, saying, Answerest thou nothing? Behold how many things they witness against thee. But Jesus answered nothing any more, so that Pilate marvelled.

he was the more afraid, And returned into the palace and saith to Jesus, Whence art thou?

And he questioned him in many words, but he answered him nothing.

And Jesus rebuked him, saying, Hold thy peace and come out of him. And the unclean spirit having torn him, and cried with a loud noise, came out of him.

And Jesus rebuked him, saying, Hold thy peace, and come out of him. And the devil having thrown him in the midst, came out of him, and hurt him not.

And he arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, Peace; be still. And the wind ceased and there was a great calm.

And when he had opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven about half an hour.

And when the voice was past, Jesus was found alone: and they held their peace, and told no man in those days any of those things which they had seen.

Then all the multitude kept silence and hearkened to Barnabas and Paul, declaring what miracles and wonders God had wrought by them among the Gentiles.

And after the tumult was ceased, Paul calling the disciples to him, and having taken his leave of them, departed to go into Macedonia.
