'City' in the Bible

How she sits alone,the city once crowded with people!She who was great among the nationshas become like a widow.The princess among the provinceshas been put to forced labor.

ק QofI called to my lovers,but they betrayed me.My priests and eldersperished in the citywhile searching for foodto keep themselves alive.

כ KafMy eyes are worn out from weeping;I am churning within.My heart is poured out in griefbecause of the destruction of my dear people,because children and infants faintin the streets of the city.

ל LamedThey cry out to their mothers:Where is the grain and wine?as they faint like the woundedin the streets of the city,as their lives fade awayin the arms of their mothers.

ס SamekAll who pass byscornfully clap their hands at you.They mock and shake their headsat Daughter Jerusalem:Is this the city that was calledthe perfection of beauty,the joy of the whole earth?

My eyes bring me griefbecause of the fate of all the women in my city.

The elders have left the city gate,the young men, their music.
