'Owed' in the Bible
All those who were in trouble or owed someone money or were discontented gathered around him, and he became their leader. He had about four hundred men with him.
As he began settling his accounts, a man who owed ten thousand talents was brought to him.
After he went out, that same slave found one of his fellow slaves who owed him one hundred silver coins. So he grabbed him by the throat and started to choke him, saying, 'Pay back what you owe me!'
And in anger his lord turned him over to the prison guards to torture him until he repaid all he owed.
"A certain creditor had two debtors; one owed him five hundred silver coins, and the other fifty.
Pay everyone what is owed: taxes to whom taxes are due, revenue to whom revenue is due, respect to whom respect is due, honor to whom honor is due.
But if a widow has children or grandchildren, they should first learn to fulfill their duty toward their own household and so repay their parents what is owed them. For this is what pleases God.
