'Saying' in the Bible

She made a vow saying, "O Lord of hosts, if you will look with compassion on the suffering of your female servant, remembering me and not forgetting your servant, and give a male child to your servant, then I will dedicate him to the Lord all the days of his life. His hair will never be cut."

Samuel took a stone and placed it between Mizpah and Shen. He named it Ebenezer, saying, "Up to here the Lord has helped us."

Jonathan attacked the Philistine outpost that was at Geba and the Philistines heard about it. Then Saul alerted all the land saying, "Let the Hebrews pay attention!"

Then someone from the army informed him, "Your father put the army under a strict oath saying, 'Cursed be the man who eats food today!' That is why the army is tired."

The Lord sent you on a campaign saying, 'Go and exterminate those sinful Amalekites! Fight against them until you have destroyed them.'

Then Saul sent word to Jesse saying, "Let David be my servant, for I really like him."

The soldiers told him what had been promised, saying, "This is what will be done for the man who can strike him down."

Then Saul sent the messengers back to see David, saying, "Bring him up to me on his bed so I can kill him."

It was reported to Saul saying, "David is at Naioth in Ramah."

Jonathan said to David, "Go in peace, for the two of us have sworn together in the name of the Lord saying, 'The Lord will be between me and you and between my descendants and your descendants forever.'"Then David got up and left, while Jonathan went back to the city.

But a messenger came to Saul saying, "Come quickly, for the Philistines have raided the land!"

So let my lord the king now listen to the words of his servant. If the Lord has incited you against me, may he take delight in an offering. David took all the flocks and herds and drove them in front of the rest of the animals. People were saying, "This is David's plunder!"

When David came to Ziklag, he sent some of the plunder to the elders of Judah who were his friends, saying, "Here's a gift for you from the looting of the Lord's enemies!"
