'Troubles' in the Bible
God heard the voice of the boy, and the angel of God called to Hagar from heaven and said to her, “What troubles you, Hagar? Do not be afraid, for God has heard the voice of the boy from where he is [resting].
Then My anger will be kindled and burn against them in that day, and I will abandon (turn away from) them and hide My face from them. They will be devoured, and many evils and troubles will come on them, so that they will say in that day, ‘Is it not because our God is not among us that these evils have come on us?’
Then it shall come about, when many evils and troubles have come on them, that this [sacred] song will confront them as a witness; for it will not be forgotten from the mouth of their descendants. For I know their inclination which is developing even now, before I bring them into the land which I have sworn to give them.”
The king asked her, “What is the matter?” She said, “Truly I am a widow; my husband is dead.
When Ahab saw Elijah, Ahab said to him, “Are you the one who is bringing disaster on Israel?”
“He will rescue you from six troubles;Even in seven, evil will not touch you.
“Therefore snares surround you,And sudden dread terrifies and overwhelms you;
Then He will speak to them in His [profound] angerAnd terrify them with His displeasure, saying,
The troubles of my heart are multiplied;Bring me out of my distresses.
O God, redeem Israel,Out of all his troubles.
This poor man cried, and the Lord heard himAnd saved him from all his troubles.
When the righteous cry [for help], the Lord hearsAnd rescues them from all their distress and troubles.
You who have shown me many troubles and distressesWill revive and renew me again,And will bring me up again from the depths of the earth.
For my soul is full of troubles,And my life draws near the grave (Sheol, the place of the dead).
He who troubles (mismanages) his own house will inherit the wind (nothing),And the foolish will be a servant to the wise-hearted.
He who profits unlawfully brings suffering to his own house,But he who hates bribes [and does not receive nor pay them] will live.
He who guards his mouth and his tongueGuards himself from troubles.
“Because he who blesses himself on the earthWill bless himself by the God of truth and faithfulness;And he who swears [an oath] on the earthWill swear by the God of truth and faithfulness;Because the former troubles are forgotten,And because they are hidden from My sight.
‘O Belteshazzar, chief of the magicians, because I know that a spirit of the holy gods is in you and no mystery baffles or troubles you, tell me the visions of my dream which I have seen, along with its interpretation.
And not only this, but [with joy] let us exult in our sufferings and rejoice in our hardships, knowing that hardship (distress, pressure, trouble) produces patient endurance;
But if you do marry, you have not sinned [in doing so]; and if a virgin marries, she has not sinned [in doing so]. Yet those [who marry] will have troubles (special challenges) in this life, and I am trying to spare you that.
