'Place' in the Bible
Then God said, “Let the water under the sky be gathered into one place, and let the dry land appear.” And it was so.
So the Lord God caused a deep sleep to come over the man, and he slept. God took one of his ribs and closed the flesh at that place.
Adam was intimate with his wife again, and she gave birth to a son and named him Seth, for she said, “God has given me another child in place of Abel, since Cain killed him.”
He went by stages from the Negev to Bethel, to the place between Bethel and Ai where his tent had formerly been,
After Lot had separated from him, the Lord said to Abram, “Look from the place where you are. Look north and south, east and west,
What if there are 50 righteous people in the city? Will You really sweep it away instead of sparing the place for the sake of the 50 righteous people who are in it?
The Lord said, “If I find 50 righteous people in the city of Sodom, I will spare the whole place for their sake.”
When the Lord had finished speaking with Abraham, He departed, and Abraham returned to his place.
Then the angels said to Lot, “Do you have anyone else here: a son-in-law, your sons and daughters, or anyone else in the city who belongs to you? Get them out of this place,
for we are about to destroy this place because the outcry against its people is so great before the Lord, that the Lord has sent us to destroy it.”
So Lot went out and spoke to his sons-in-law, who were going to marry his daughters. “Get up,” he said. “Get out of this place, for the Lord is about to destroy the city!” But his sons-in-law thought he was joking.
Look, this town is close enough for me to run to. It is a small place. Please let me go there—it’s only a small place, isn’t it?—so that I can survive.”
Early in the morning Abraham went to the place where he had stood before the Lord.
Abraham replied, “I thought, ‘There is absolutely no fear of God in this place. They will kill me because of my wife.’
God heard the voice of the boy, and the angel of God called to Hagar from heaven and said to her, “What’s wrong, Hagar? Don’t be afraid, for God has heard the voice of the boy from the place where he is.
Therefore that place was called Beer-sheba because it was there that the two of them swore an oath.
So Abraham got up early in the morning, saddled his donkey, and took with him two of his young men and his son Isaac. He split wood for a burnt offering and set out to go to the place God had told him about.
On the third day Abraham looked up and saw the place in the distance.
When they arrived at the place that God had told him about, Abraham built the altar there and arranged the wood. He bound his son Isaac and placed him on the altar on top of the wood.
Abraham looked up and saw a ram caught in the thicket by its horns. So Abraham went and took the ram and offered it as a burnt offering in place of his son.
And Abraham named that place The Lord Will Provide, so today it is said: “It will be provided on the Lord’s mountain.”
“Listen to us, lord. You are God’s chosen one among us. Bury your dead in our finest burial place. None of us will withhold from you his burial place for burying your dead.”
to give me the cave of Machpelah that belongs to him; it is at the end of his field. Let him give it to me in your presence, for the full price, as a burial place.”
The field with its cave passed from the Hittites to Abraham as a burial place.
Abraham said to his servant, the elder of his household who managed all he owned, “Place your hand under my thigh,
She also said to him, “We have plenty of straw and feed and a place to spend the night.”
Laban said, “Come, you who are blessed by the Lord. Why are you standing out here? I have prepared the house and a place for the camels.”
When the men of the place asked about his wife, he said, “She is my sister,” for he was afraid to say “my wife,” thinking, “The men of the place will kill me on account of Rebekah, for she is a beautiful woman.”
He reached a certain place and spent the night there because the sun had set. He took one of the stones from the place, put it there at his head, and lay down in that place.
When Jacob awoke from his sleep, he said, “Surely the Lord is in this place, and I did not know it.”
He was afraid and said, “What an awesome place this is! This is none other than the house of God. This is the gate of heaven.”
and named the place Bethel, though previously the city was named Luz.
So Laban invited all the men of the place to a feast.
Laban answered, “It is not the custom in this place to give the younger daughter in marriage before the firstborn.
Jacob became angry with Rachel and said, “Am I in God’s place, who has withheld children from you?”
Then Laban said, “This mound is a witness between you and me today.” Therefore the place was called Galeed
When he saw them, Jacob said, “This is God’s camp.” So he called that place Mahanaim.
Jacob then named the place Peniel, “For I have seen God face to face,” he said, “and I have been delivered.”
but Jacob went on to Succoth. He built a house for himself and stalls for his livestock; that is why the place was called Succoth.
Jacob built an altar there and called the place God of Bethel because it was there that God had revealed Himself to him when he was fleeing from his brother.
Then God withdrew from him at the place where He had spoken to him.
Jacob set up a marker at the place where He had spoken to him—a stone marker. He poured a drink offering on it and anointed it with oil.
Jacob named the place where God had spoken with him Bethel.
When Bela died, Jobab son of Zerah from Bozrah became king in his place.
When Jobab died, Husham from the land of the Temanites became king in his place.
When Husham died, Hadad son of Bedad became king in his place.He defeated Midian in the field of Moab;the name of his city was Avith.
When Hadad died, Samlah from Masrekah became king in his place.
When Samlah died, Shaul from Rehoboth on the Euphrates River became king in his place.
When Shaul died, Baal-hanan son of Achbor became king in his place.
When Baal-hanan son of Achbor died, Hadar became king in his place.His city was Pau, and his wife’s name was Mehetabeldaughter of Matred daughter of Me-zahab.
He asked the men of the place, “Where is the cult prostitute who was beside the road at Enaim?”“There has been no cult prostitute here,” they answered.
So the Adullamite returned to Judah, saying, “I couldn’t find her, and furthermore, the men of the place said, ‘There has been no cult prostitute here.’”
After them, seven years of famine will take place, and all the abundance in the land of Egypt will be forgotten. The famine will devastate the land.
The food will be a reserve for the land during the seven years of famine that will take place in the land of Egypt. Then the country will not be wiped out by the famine.”
This is how you will be tested: As surely as Pharaoh lives, you will not leave this place unless your youngest brother comes here.
At the place where they lodged for the night, one of them opened his sack to get feed for his donkey, and he saw his money there at the top of the bag.
When we came to the place where we lodged for the night and opened our bags of grain, each one’s money was at the top of his bag! It was the full amount of our money, and we have brought it back with us.
Now please let your servant remain here as my lord’s slave, in place of the boy. Let him go back with his brothers.

When the Canaanite inhabitants of the land saw the mourning at the threshing floor of Atad, they said, “This is a solemn mourning on the part of the Egyptians.” Therefore the place is named Abel-mizraim. It is across the Jordan.
But Joseph said to them, “Don’t be afraid. Am I in the place of God?
