So all the righteous blood shed on the earth will be charged to you, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zechariah, son of Berechiah, whom you murdered between the sanctuary and the altar.
In this way, innocent blood will not be shed, and you will not become guilty of bloodshed in the land the Lord your God is giving you as an inheritance.

Woe to the city of bloodshed!
I Myself will make the pile of kindling large.
“I have sinned by betraying innocent blood,” he said.
“What’s that to us?” they said. “See to it yourself!”
The chief priests took the silver and said, “It’s not lawful to put it into the temple treasury, since it is blood money.”
All the people answered, “His blood be on us and on our children!”
But when they resisted and blasphemed, he shook his robe and told them, “Your blood is on your own heads! I am innocent. From now on I will go to the Gentiles.”
You are to strike down the house of your master Ahab so that I may avenge the blood shed by the hand of Jezebel—the blood of My servants the prophets and of all the servants of the Lord.
Why should the nations ask,
“Where is their God?”
Before our eyes,
let vengeance for the shed blood of Your servants
be known among the nations.

because His judgments are true and righteous,

When Pilate saw that he was getting nowhere, but that a riot was starting instead, he took some water, washed his hands in front of the crowd, and said, “I am innocent of this man’s blood. See to it yourselves!”
Therefore I testify to you this day that I am innocent of everyone’s blood,
