that it may be made like his glorious body, according to the energy of his ability to subdue all things to Himself.

And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly.

for if we have been planted together in the resemblance of his death, so shall we be also of his resurrection.

and deliver Him up to the gentiles, to insult, and to scourge, and to crucify Him. But on the third day He shall rise again.

And as they came down from the mountain, He charged them to tell no one what they had seen, till after the Son of man were risen from the dead.

but after I am risen again, I will go before you into Galilee.

Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up again: then said the Jews, Forty and six years has this temple been in building, and wilt thou raise it up in three days? but He spake of the temple of his body. his disciples remembered, that He had said this to them: and they believed the scripture, and the word which Jesus had said.

and their words appeared to them as an idle tale, and they did not believe them.

But they being terrified and frighted, thought they saw a spirit. And He said to them, Why are ye troubled? and why do such thoughts rise in your hearts?

and they went and told the rest; but they did not believe them neither.

and returned from the sepulchre, and told all these things to the eleven apostles, and to all the rest.

This Jesus hath God raised up from the dead, of which we all are witnesses.

And with great power did the apostles give their testimony of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus: and great grace was upon them all.

from the baptism of John, till the day that He was taken up from us, should be joined with us as a witness of his resurrection.

and said unto them, thus it is written, and thus it was necessary that the Christ should suffer, and rise again from the dead on the third day;

and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day, according to the scriptures.

Him God raised up the third day, and gave Him to be seen openly; not to all the people,

and if Christ be not risen, your faith is vain; ye are yet in your sins.

And if Christ be not risen, then is our preaching vain, and your faith is also vain.

And while He was blessing them, He was parted from them, and was carried up into heaven.

And having said these things, as they were looking upon Him, He was lifted up, and a cloud received Him out of their sight.

and not finding his body there, came and said likewise that they had seen a vision of angels, who said He was alive.

and the angel said to the women, Be not ye afraid: for I know that ye seek Jesus who was crucified. He is not here, for He is risen, as He said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay: and go quickly, and tell his disciples that He is risen from the dead; and behold, He is going before you into Galilee; there ye shall see Him; lo, I have told you.

And while they were in perplexity about it, behold, two men stood by them in shining robes. And as they were afraid, and bowed down their faces to the ground, the men said unto them, Why do ye seek the living among the dead? He is not here, He is risen: remember how He spake to you, when He was yet in Galilee, read more.
saying, the Son of man must be delivered into the hands of wicked men, and be crucified; and the third day rise again.

Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have.

Then these also related what had happened by the way, and how He became known to them in breaking of bread.

but powerfully declared to be the Son of God, according to the spirit of holiness, by his resurrection from the dead, even Jesus Christ our Lord;

that the promise made unto the fathers God hath fulfilled unto us their children, having raised up Jesus again: as it is also written in the second psalm, "Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee."

for as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly, so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

Therefore we are buried with Him by baptism into death: that as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, so we also should walk in newness of life:

And that He raised Him from the dead, no more to return to the place of corruption, He hath said thus, "I will give you the sure mercies of David." Wherefore he saith also in another place, Thou wilt not suffer thine holy One to see corruption.

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to his abundant mercy hath regenerated us to a lively hope, by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,

who through Him trust in God that raised Him from the dead, and gave Him glory, that your faith and hope might be fixed in God.

Who is he that condemneth? Is it Christ, that died for us? yea rather, that is risen again, who is also at the right hand of God, and who maketh intercession for us?

who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification.

Now the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, and the doors where the disciples were being shut, for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in the midst, and saith unto them, Peace be to you.

But Thomas called Didymus, one of the twelve, was not with them when Jesus came.

but had certain questions against him concerning their own religion; and of one Jesus that was dead, whom Paul affirmed to be alive.

And if Christ be not risen, then is our preaching vain, and your faith is also vain. Yea, and we are found false witnesses concerning God, for we have testified of God, that He raised up Christ; whom He did not raise up, if indeed the dead do not rise.

Now Jesus being risen early on the first day of the week appeared first to Mary Magdalene, from whom He had cast out seven devils:

So Mary Magdalene came and told the disciples, that she had seen the Lord, and that He had said these things to her.

Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up again: then said the Jews,

None taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself: I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment I have received from my Father.

For they did not before understand the scripture, that He must rise from the dead.

And they laid hold on that expression, querying among themselves, what means the rising from the dead?

And if Christ be not risen, then is our preaching vain, and your faith is also vain.

and if Christ be not risen, your faith is vain; ye are yet in your sins.

If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable.

after that He appeared to above five hundred brethren at once, of whom the greater part remain yet alive, but some are fallen asleep.

Afterwards He was seen by James, then by all the apostles.

And last of all He appeared to me also, as one born out of due time: for I am the lest of the apostles,

Now while they were going, behold some of the guard came into the city, and told the chief priests all that had happened: and they assembled with the elders, and taking counsel together gave the soldiers a large sum of money, saying, Do you say, that his disciples came by night, and stole Him away, while we were asleep. read more.
And if this should come to a hearing before the governor, we will satisfy him, and indemnify you. So they took the money, and did as they were instructed: and this is commonly reported among the Jews to this day.

And the eleven disciples went into Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had appointed them. And when they saw Him, they worshipped Him: but some doubted.

and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable to his death;

when He was alive, said, After three days I will rise again: order therefore the sepulchre to be secured till the third day, least his disciples should come and steal Him away, and tell the people, He is risen from the dead: and so the last error will be worse than the first. But Pilate said to them, Ye have a guard of your own, go and make it as secure as ye will. read more.
So they went and made the sepulchre safe, sealing the stone, and setting a guard to watch it.

Then He opened their mind, to understand the scriptures: and said unto them, thus it is written, and thus it was necessary that the Christ should suffer, and rise again from the dead on the third day;

And behold two of them were going that day to a village about threescore furlongs from Jerusalem, called Emmaus. And they were conversing together about all these things which had happened. And while they were discoursing and reasoning together, Jesus himself drew near and went along with them. read more.
But their eyes were so restrained that they did not know Him. And He said unto them, What subjects are these, which ye are discoursing of to one another as ye walk, and why are ye sorrowful? And one of them, whose name was Cleopas, answered and said to Him, Art thou only a sojourner at Jerusalem, and hast not heard of the things which have been done there within these few days? And He said unto them, What things? And they replied, Those concerning Jesus of Nazareth, who was a prophet powerful both in work and word before God and all the people: how the chief priests and our rulers delivered Him to be condemned to death, and crucified Him. But we hoped that it was He that would have delivered Israel: and besides all this, to-day is the third day since these things were done. And indeed some women of our company much surprised us: who having been early at the sepulchre, and not finding his body there, came and said likewise that they had seen a vision of angels, who said He was alive. And some of those that were with us went to the sepulchre, and found it so as the women had said: but Him they did not see. And He said unto them, O people void of understanding and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken. Was not the Messiah to suffer these things, and so to enter into his glory? And beginning from Moses, and all the prophets, He explained to them in all the scriptures the things that were spoken concerning Himself. And they drew nigh to the village whither they were going: and He made as if He was going farther. And they pressed Him, saying, Stay with us, for it is towards evening, and the day is far spent. And He went in to tarry with them. And as He sat at table with them, He took bread and blessed it, and then brake it and gave to them. And their eyes were opened, and they knew Him.

Remember Jesus Christ of the seed of David, who was raised from the dead, according to my gospel:

And as they were going to tell his disciples, behold, Jesus met them and said, God save you. And they drew near and embraced his feet, and worshipped Him.

As Christ also once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust (that He might introduce us to God) being indeed put to death in the flesh, but raised to life by the Spirit:

by what means he is cured, be it known to you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, but whom God hath raised from the dead, even by Him doth this man stand here before you whole. This is the stone that was set at nought by you builders, which is become the head of the corner.

And after eight days his disciples were again within, and Thomas with them: and Jesus came (the doors being shut as before) and stood in the midst, and said, Peace be to you.

At last he appeared to the eleven as they were sitting at table, and upbraided them with their unbelief, and hardness of heart; because they did not believe those who had seen Him after He was risen.

The Lord is risen indeed, and hath been seen by Simon.

Because He hath fixed a day, in which He will judge the world in righteousness, by that man whom He hath appointed thereto; having given assurance of it to all men, by raising Him from the dead.

After these things Jesus shewed Himself again to the disciples near the sea of Tiberias; and He shewed Himself thus.
