Servants, obey your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in singleness of heart, as unto the Lord: Not with eye-service, as men-pleasers, but as servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart,
Servants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh; not with eye-service, as men-pleasers, but in singleness of heart, fearing God. And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not to men: Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance; for ye serve the Lord Christ.
Exhort servants to be obedient to their own masters, to please them in all things, not answering again, Not stealing, but shewing all good fidelity, that they may in all things adorn the gospel of God our Saviour.
Let the elders who rule well be counted worthy of double honour, especially those who labour in the word and teaching. For the scripture saith, Thou shalt not muzzle the ox that treadeth out the corn: and, The labourer is worthy of his reward.
And remain in the same house eating and drinking such things as they have; for the labourer is worthy of his hire: go not from house to house.
Who ever warreth at his own charge? Who planteth a vineyard, and doth not eat of its fruit? Or who feedeth a flock, and doth not eat of the milk of the flock? Do I speak these things as a man? Doth not the law also speak the same? For it is written, in the law of Moses, Thou shalt not muzzle the ox that treadeth out the corn? Doth God take care for oxen?read more.
Or speaketh he chiefly for our sakes? surely for our sakes it was written: for he who ploweth, ought to plow in hope; and he that thresheth in hope, ought to be a partaker of his hope. If we have sown unto you spiritual things, is it a great matter, if we shall reap your carnal things?
Let him that is taught in the word impart to him that teacheth in all good things.
Knowing that whatsoever good each man doth, the same shall he receive from the Lord, whether he be a servant or free.
But when thou dost alms, let not thy left-hand know what thy right-hand doth: That thy alms may be in secret, and thy father who seeth in secret, shall reward thee openly.
His lord said to him, Well done, good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things: I will set thee over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.
And he that reapeth, receiveth wages, and gathereth fruit to life eternal, that both he that soweth and he that reapeth may rejoice together.
Henceforth there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord the righteous judge will render me in that day, and not to me only, but to all them likewise that have loved his appearing.
For death is the wages of sin; but eternal life is the gift of God through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Who have forsaken the right way and are gone astray, following the way of Balaam, the son of Boser, who loved the reward of unrighteousness.
