and teacheth us that we should deny ungodliness and worldly lusts, and that we should live sober minded, righteously, and godly in this present world,
as obedient children, not fashioning yourselves unto your old lusts of ignorance: But as he which called you is holy, even so be ye holy in all manner of conversation, because it is written, "Be ye holy, for I am holy."
For it is sufficient for us that we have spent the time that is past of the life, after the will of the gentiles; walking in wantonness, lusts, drunkenness, in eating, drinking, and in abominable idolatry. And it seemeth to them a strange thing that ye run not also with them unto the same excess of riot, and therefore speak they evil of you,
For all that is born of God, overcometh the world. And this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.
And now am I no more in the world, but they are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy father, keep in thine own name them which thou hast given me, that they may be one as we are.
While we have, therefore, time; let us do good unto all men, and specially, unto them which are of the household of faith.
