so if satan rise up in opposition to his own interest, his power cannot subsist, but must entirely cease. no one can enter into a strong man's house, and plunder his goods, unless the man be first secur'd.

it is the faith which we have in him, that has procured strength to this man whom ye see and know: yea, the faith which is by him, hath given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all.
the God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom ye slew, and hanged on a tree. him hath God rais'd by his power to be the author of salvation, by giving repentance to Israel, and the remission of their sins.
Now I would have you know, my brethren, that what has happen'd to me, has only conduc'd to the progress of the gospel; so that the whole court and publick are well appriz'd that I am a prisoner upon the account of Jesus Christ. even many of our brethren, encourag'd by my bonds, preach the word with greater freedom and intrepidity.
Consider the various tryals that surround you, my brethren, as matter of great joy; knowing this, that the bringing your faith to the test, produces constancy.
This it is that fills you with joy, notwithstanding the various tryals, which still necessarily afflict you, that your faith being put to a more advantageous proof, than that of gold, which loses by the essay, may redound to your praise and highest honour at the appearance of Jesus Christ:
who were not, by their own choice, expos'd to this uncertain state, but by virtue of him, who subjected them thereto: and therefore hope to be removed from this slavish condition of mortality to the free inheritance of divine glory.

and he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the devil and satan, and bound him for a thousand years,
the God of peace will soon bruise Satan under your feet. the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.
the devil that seduced them, shall be cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.

but the fearful, and incredulous, the abominable, the murderer, the licentious, the poisoner, the idolater, and every lyar shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone: this is the second death."
As for us, in consequence of his promise, we expect a new heaven, and a new earth, where justice shall reside.
God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; there shall be no more death, sorrow, or crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former state of things is passed away." he that sat upon the throne, said,
"but without are the execrable, the poisoners, the licentious, the murderers, the idolaters, and all who are pleas'd with, or practise deceit.
