'Daughter' in the Bible

ו VavAll her splendor has vanishedfrom Daughter Zion.Her leaders are like stagsthat find no pasture;they walk away exhaustedbefore the hunter.

ס SamekThe Lord has rejectedall the mighty men within me.He has summoned an army against meto crush my young warriors.The Lord has trampled Virgin Daughter Judahlike grapes in a winepress.

How the Lord has overshadowedDaughter Zion with His anger!He has thrown down Israel’s gloryfrom heaven to earth.He has abandoned His footstoolin the day of His anger.

ב BetWithout compassion the Lord has swallowed upall the dwellings of Jacob.In His wrath He has demolishedthe fortified cities of Daughter Judah.He brought them to the groundand defiled the kingdom and its leaders.

ד DaletHe has bent His bow like an enemy;His right hand is positioned like an adversary.He has killed everyone who was loved,pouring out His wrath like fireon the tent of Daughter Zion.

ה HeThe Lord is like an enemy;He has swallowed up Israel.He swallowed up all its palacesand destroyed its fortified cities.He has multiplied mourning and lamentationwithin Daughter Judah.

ח KhetThe Lord determined to destroythe wall of Daughter Zion.He stretched out a measuring lineand did not restrain Himself from destroying.He made the ramparts and walls grieve;together they waste away.

י YodThe elders of Daughter Zionsit on the ground in silence.They have thrown dust on their headsand put on sackcloth.The young women of Jerusalemhave bowed their heads to the ground.

מ MemWhat can I say on your behalf?What can I compare you to, Daughter Jerusalem?What can I liken you to,so that I may console you, Virgin Daughter Zion?For your ruin is as vast as the sea.Who can heal you?

ס SamekAll who pass byscornfully clap their hands at you.They mock and shake their headsat Daughter Jerusalem:Is this the city that was calledthe perfection of beauty,the joy of the whole earth?

צ TsadeThe hearts of the people cry out to the Lord.Wall of Daughter Zion,let your tears run down like a riverday and night.Give yourself no reliefand your eyes no rest.

שׂ SinSo rejoice and be glad, Daughter Edom,you resident of the land of Uz!Yet the cup will pass to you as well;you will get drunk and expose yourself.

ת TavDaughter Zion, your punishment is complete;He will not lengthen your exile.But He will punish your iniquity, Daughter Edom,and will expose your sins.
