'For Us' in the Bible
then Peter address'd himself to Jesus, Lord, said he, it is good for us to stay here: if you please, let us make three tabernacles here; one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elias.
but the wise answered, for fear there should not be enough for us and you, go rather to those that sell; and buy for your selves.
then Peter thus address'd himself to Jesus, master, it is proper for us to be here: let us make therefore three tabernacles, one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elias.
and he will shew you a large upper room ready furnished: there make preparation for us.
and they said to one another, who will remove the stone from the mouth of the sepulchre for us?
he hath rais'd up a powerful saviour for us, in the family of his servant David,
who were just departing from him, when Peter said to Jesus, master, it is best for us to stay here: let us build three apartments, one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elias: not knowing well what he said.
but Jesus said to him, don't oppose it: for he that is not against us, is for us.
as for us, it is with justice, that we suffer the penalty due to our crimes: but as for him, what misdemeanour has he been guilty of?
Pilate then said to them, take him your selves, and judge him according to your law. but the Jews said to him, it is not lawful for us to put any man to death.
and then advanc'd before and waited for us at Troas.
but the young man was brought in alive and well, to the joy of the whole assembly. As for us, we embark'd, and sail'd to Assos,
but for us also, to whom it shall be accounted, if we believe on him that raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead,
for at the appointed time Christ died for us, when we were in a helpless, sinful state.
but herein hath God displayed his love towards us, in that Christ died for us, even while we were yet sinners.
What shall we conclude then from this? if God be for us, who can be against us?
he that spared not his own son, but delivered him up for us all, will he not with him likewise freely give us all things?
who shall condemn them? shall Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, and makes intercession for us?
is not the potter the master of his own clay, of the same mass to make one vessel for use and ornament, and another for a meaner purpose?
for how can he, that does not know the mind of the Lord, instruct another? but as for us, we are acquainted with the mind of the Lord.
purge out the old leaven, that you may be a new mass, since you should be without leaven. for Christ our paschal lamb has been sacrificed for us.
in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the sound of the last trumpet (for the trumpet shall sound) and the dead shall rise incorruptible; but as for us, we shall be changed.
for he hath made him who knew no sin to be a sin-offering for us, that we might be justified by God thro' him.
as for us, we give no occasion of offence, that our ministry may not be blamed:
Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us. (for it is written, " cursed is every one, that hangeth upon a tree.")
so then, my brethren, we are not children of the bond-woman, but of the free-woman, by virtue of that freedom which Christ has procur'd for us.
but as for us, our minds are possessed with the hopes of justification by faith.
who has by his blood obtained for us the redemption, even the forgiveness of our sins, according to the riches of his grace,
for Christ loved us, and for us gave himself an offering and a sacrifice acceptable to God.
for God did not design to make us the objects of his displeasure, but to effect our felicity by the Lord Jesus Christ, who died for us,
My brethren, pray for us.
To conclude, pray for us, my brethren, that the doctrine of the Lord may make its progress, and be respected every where as it is among you:
who gave himself for us, to redeem us from all iniquity, and qualify us to be his peculiar people, passionately affected to virtue.
nor with the blood of goats and calves, but with his own blood he enter'd once for all into the holy of holys, after having obtained for us an eternal redemption.
by a new and living way which he has first open'd for us, thro' the veil, that is, thro' his flesh;
as for us, we are not such as desert to their own destruction; but such as persevere in the faith, to the saving of our souls.
Pray for us, for we trust we have a clear conscience, and desire our virtuous conduct may appear to all the world.
in the enjoyment of a state, that can never change or decay, a state reserv'd in heaven for us,
this will conciliate the divine favour. and this is the condition of your vocation, since Christ himself has suffer'd for us,
Since then Christ has with respect to his mortal nature died for us, arm yourselves with this reflection, that he, who is dead with respect to sensuality, has renounced sin;
As for us, in consequence of his promise, we expect a new heaven, and a new earth, where justice shall reside.
as for us, we know, that we have passed from a state of death to that of life, because we love our brethren: he that does not love his brother, is in a destructive state.
this is the proof of the divine love, Christ expos'd his life for us: and we ought to expose our lives for the brethren.
