So then, brethren, stand firm and hold to the traditions which you were taught, whether by word of mouth or by letter from us.

I do not wish to seem as if I would terrify you by my letters. For they say, "His letters are weighty and strong, but his personal presence is weak, and his speech of no account." Let such people realize that what we are in our letters when we are absent, we will be in our actions when we are present.
When this letter has been read among you, have it also read in the church of the Laodiceans; and see that you read the letter from Laodicea.
I charge you by the Lord to have this letter read to all the brethren.
