But he gives more grace. "Wherefore he says: God sets himself against the proud, but gives grace to the lowly.

Likewise, you younger, be in subjection to the older: do you all indeed be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resists the proud, but gives grace to the lowly. Humble yourselves, therefore, under the strong hand of God, that he may exalt you in due season.

He has filled the hungry with good things, but the rich he has sent empty away.

Let the brother that is in a lowly condition, glory in his exaltation:

For you sympathized with me in my bonds, and endured joyfully the seizure of your possessions, knowing that you have for yourselves a better and abiding substance in the heavens.

Hear, my be loved brethren: Has not God chosen the poor of this world, rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which God has promised to those who love him?

I know your works, and your affliction, and your poverty, (but you are rich,) and the impious words of those who say they are Jews, and are not, but are the synagogue of Satan.
