'Days' in the Bible
When the days of their feasting were over, Job would send [for them] and consecrate them, rising early in the morning and offering burnt offerings according to the number of them all; for Job said, “It may be that my sons have sinned and cursed God in their hearts.” Job did this at all [such] times.
So they sat down on the ground with Job for seven days and seven nights and no one spoke a word to him, for they saw that his pain was very great.
“As for that night, let darkness seize it;Let it not rejoice among the days of the year;Let it not be counted in the number of the months.
“Is not man forced to labor on earth?And are not his days like the days of a hired man?
“My days are swifter than a weaver’s shuttle,And are spent without hope.
“I waste away and loathe my life; I will not live forever.Let me alone, for my days are but a breath [futile and without substance].
“For we are only of yesterday and know nothing,Because our days on earth are [like] a shadow [just a breath or a vapor].
“Now my days are swifter than a runner;They vanish, they see no good.
‘Are Your days as the days of a mortal,Are Your years as man’s years,
“Would He not let my few days alone,Withdraw from me that I may have a little cheer
“With the aged [you say] is wisdom,And with long life is understanding.
“Man, who is born of a woman,Is short-lived and full of turmoil.
“Since his days are determined,The number of his months is with You [in Your control],And You have made his limits so he cannot pass [his allotted time].
“If a man dies, will he live again?I will wait all the days of my struggleUntil my change and release will come.
“The wicked man writhes with pain all his days,And numbered are the years stored up for him, the ruthless one.
“My spirit is broken, my days are extinguished,The grave is ready for me.
“My days are past, my purposes and plans are frustrated and torn apart;The wishes of my heart [are broken].
“They fully enjoy their days in prosperity,And so go down to Sheol (the nether world, the place of the dead) in a [peaceful] moment.
“Why does the Almighty not set seasons for judgment?Why do those who know Him not see His days [for punishment of the wicked]?
“I hold fast my uprightness and my right standing with God and I will not let them go;My heart does not reproach me for any of my days.
“Oh, that I were as in the months of old,As in the days when God watched over me,
As I was in the prime of my days,When the friendship and counsel of God were over my tent,
“Then I said, ‘I shall die in my nest,And I shall multiply my days as the sand.
“And now my soul is poured out within me;The days of affliction have seized me.
“I am seething within and my heart is troubled and cannot rest;Days of affliction come to meet me.
“Let his flesh be restored and become fresher than in youth;Let him return to the days of his youthful strength.
“If they hear and serve Him,They will end their days in prosperityAnd their years in pleasantness and joy.
“Since your days began, have you ever commanded the morning,And caused the dawn to know its place,
And the Lord blessed the latter days of Job more than his beginning; for he had 14,000 sheep, 6,000 camels, 1,000 yoke of oxen, and 1,000 female donkeys.
So Job died, an old man and full of days.
