For thus says the Lord,“The whole land shall be a desolation,Yet I will not execute a complete destruction.

Yet even in those days,” declares the Lord, “I will not make you a complete destruction.

‘Do you not fear Me?’ declares the Lord.‘Do you not tremble in My presence?For I have placed the sand as a boundary for the sea,An eternal decree, so it cannot cross over it.Though the waves toss, yet they cannot prevail;Though they roar, yet they cannot cross over it.

Yet they did not obey or incline their ear, but walked in their own counsels and in the stubbornness of their evil heart, and went backward and not forward.

Yet they did not listen to Me or incline their ear, but stiffened their neck; they did more evil than their fathers.

“Behold, the days are coming,” declares the Lord, “that I will punish all who are circumcised and yet uncircumcised—

Yet they did not obey or incline their ear, but walked, each one, in the stubbornness of his evil heart; therefore I brought on them all the words of this covenant, which I commanded them to do, but they did not.’”

Therefore thus says the Lord, “Behold I am bringing disaster on them which they will not be able to escape; though they will cry to Me, yet I will not listen to them.

“Why are You like a man dismayed,Like a mighty man who cannot save?Yet You are in our midst, O Lord,And we are called by Your name;Do not forsake us!”

Therefore thus says the Lord concerning the prophets who are prophesying in My name, although it was not I who sent them—yet they keep saying, ‘There will be no sword or famine in this land’—by sword and famine those prophets shall meet their end!

“She who bore seven sons pines away;Her breathing is labored.Her sun has set while it was yet day;She has been shamed and humiliated.So I will give over their survivors to the swordBefore their enemies,” declares the Lord.

Woe to me, my mother, that you have borne meAs a man of strife and a man of contention to all the land!I have not lent, nor have men lent money to me,Yet everyone curses me.

Can man make gods for himself?Yet they are not gods!

Yet they did not listen or incline their ears, but stiffened their necks in order not to listen or take correction.

Yet You, O Lord, knowAll their deadly designs against me;Do not forgive their iniquityOr blot out their sin from Your sight.But may they be overthrown before You;Deal with them in the time of Your anger!

Behold, I am against those who have prophesied false dreams,” declares the Lord, “and related them and led My people astray by their falsehoods and reckless boasting; yet I did not send them or command them, nor do they furnish this people the slightest benefit,” declares the Lord.

Yet you have not listened to Me,” declares the Lord, “in order that you might provoke Me to anger with the work of your hands to your own harm.

Yet hear now this word which I am about to speak in your hearing and in the hearing of all the people!
