Those on the rocky ground are they who, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root; and for a while they believe, and in time of temptation fall away. And those seeds which fell among the thorns, these are they who, when they have heard, go away and are choked with the cares and riches and pleasures of life, and bring no fruit to perfection. But the seeds on the good ground, these are they who in an honest and good heart, when they have heard the word, hold it fast, and bear fruit with constancy.

Hear ye therefore the parable of the sower. When any one heareth the word of the kingdom, and understandeth it not, the Evil One cometh, and snatcheth away that which was sown in his heart; this man is what was sown by the wayside. That which was from the beginning, that which we have heard, that which we have seen with our eyes, that which we looked upon, and our hands handled, concerning the word of life, and the life was manifested, and we have seen it, and bear witness, and announce to you the everlasting life, which was with the Father, and was manifested to us, that which we have seen and heard we announce to you, that ye also may have fellowship with us; and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.

And the armies which are in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and pure. And a certain Jew, named Apollos, a native of Alexandria, an eloquent man, and mighty in the Scriptures, came to Ephesus.

And Philip opened his mouth, and beginning with this scripture declared to him the glad tidings concerning Jesus.

And the passage of the scripture which he was reading was this: "He was led as a sheep to the slaughter; and like a lamb dumb before his shearer, so he openeth not his mouth.

And when they had appointed him a day, many came to him at his lodging; to whom he expounded, and earnestly testified, the kingdom of God, endeavoring to persuade them concerning Jesus both from the Law of Moses, and from the Prophets, from morning till evening.

But he answered and said, It is written, "Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that proceedeth from the mouth of God."

And Jesus answered him, It is written, "Not on bread alone shall man live."

For I delivered to you first of all what I also received, that Christ died for our sins, according to the Scriptures;

Ye search the Scriptures, because ye yourselves think that in them ye have everlasting life; and it is they which testify of me;

To him all the prophets bear witness, that through his name every one that believeth in him shall receive forgiveness of sins.

For he publicly confuted the Jews, with power, showing by the Scriptures that Jesus is the Christ.

Think not that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets: I came not to destroy, but to fulfill.

And beginning with Moses and all the Prophets he explained to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning himself.

They said therefore among themselves, Let us not rend it, but cast lots for it, whose it shall be. That the scripture might be fulfilled: "They parted my garments among them, and for my vesture they cast lots." These things the soldiers did.

I testify to every one that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any one shall add to them, God will add to him the plagues that are written in this book; and if any one shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God will take away his part from the tree of life, and out of the holy city, which are written of in this book.

So the word of the Lord grew and prevailed mightily.

And he began to say to them, Today hath this scripture been fulfilled in your ears. And they all spoke in his praise, and wondered at the words of grace which proceeded from his mouth; and they said, Is not this Josephs son? And he said to them, Ye will doubtless say to me this proverb, "Physician, heal thyself;" whatever things we have heard of as having been done in Capernaum, do here too in thy own country. And he said, Truly do I say to you, No prophet is acceptable in his own country. But I tell you in truth, that there were many widows in Israel in the days of Elijah, when the heaven was shut up three years and six months, and there was a great famine throughout all the land; and yet to none of them was Elijah sent, but to Sarepta in Sidonia, to a woman that was a widow. And there were many lepers in Israel in the time of Elisha the prophet; and not one of them was cleansed, but only Naaman the Syrian.

Study to present thyself approved unto God, a workman not ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

Great, every way. In the first place, because they were entrusted with the oracles of God.

If any one speak, let him speak as uttering the oracles of God; if any minister, let him do it as from the ability which God giveth; that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be the glory and the dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

For as many as rely on the works of the Law are under a curse; for it is written, "Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the Law, to do them."

Faith then cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

For I am not ashamed of the gospel; for to every believer, to the Jew first and also to the Greek, it is the power of God unto salvation.

And now I commend you to God, and to the word of his grace, who is able to build you up, and to give you an inheritance among all the sanctified.

These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness, and searched the Scriptures daily, whether these things were so.

and have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come,

but have renounced the hidden things of shame, not walking in craftiness, nor adulterating the word of God, but by the manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every mans conscience in the sight of God.
