'Hands' in the Bible
O Lord my God, if I have done this,If there is injustice in my hands,
You made him to have dominion over the works of Your hands;You have put all things under his feet,
The Lord has made Himself known;He executes judgment;The wicked are trapped by the work of their own hands. Higgaion (meditation) Selah.
The Lord dealt with me according to my righteousness (moral character, spiritual integrity);According to the cleanness of my hands He has rewarded me.
Therefore the Lord has rewarded me according to my righteousness (moral character, spiritual integrity),According to the cleanness of my hands in His sight.
He trains my hands for war,So that my arms can bend a bow of bronze.
For [a pack of] dogs have surrounded me;A gang of evildoers has encircled me,They pierced my hands and my feet.
He who has clean hands and a pure heart,Who has not lifted up his soul to what is false,Nor has sworn [oaths] deceitfully.
I will wash my hands in innocence,And I will go about Your altar, O Lord,
In whose hands is a wicked scheme,And whose right hand is full of bribes.
Hear the voice of my supplication (specific requests, humble entreaties) as I cry to You for help,As I lift up my hands and heart toward Your innermost sanctuary (Holy of Holies).
Repay them according to their work and according to the evil of their practices;Repay them according to the deeds of their hands;Repay them what they deserve.
Because they have no regard for the works of the LordNor the deeds of His hands,He will tear them down and not rebuild them.
Into Your hand I commit my spirit;You have redeemed me, O Lord, the God of truth and faithfulness.
My times are in Your hands;Rescue me from the hand of my enemies and from those who pursue and persecute me.
The Lord will not leave him in his handOr let him be condemned when he is judged.
If we had forgotten the name of our GodOr stretched out our hands to a strange god,
O clap your hands, all you people;Shout to God with the voice of triumph and songs of joy.
He [my companion] has put out his hands against those who were at peace with him;He has broken his covenant [of friendship and loyalty].
No, in your heart you devise wrongdoing;On earth you deal out the violence of your hands.
So will I bless You as long as I live;I will lift up my hands in Your name.
Princes and envoys shall come from Egypt;Ethiopia will quickly stretch out her hands [with the offerings of submission] to God.
Surely then in vain I have cleansed my heartAnd washed my hands in innocence.
The stouthearted have been stripped of their spoil,They have slept the sleep [of death];And none of the warriors could use his hands.
And gave up His strength and power (the ark of the covenant) into captivity,And His glory into the hand of the enemy (the Philistines).
So David shepherded them according to the integrity of his heart;And guided them with his skillful hands.
“I removed the burden from his shoulder;His hands were freed from the basket.
My eye grows dim with sorrow.O Lord, I have called on You every day;I have spread out my hands to You [in prayer].
And let the [gracious] favor of the Lord our God be on us;Confirm for us the work of our hands—Yes, confirm the work of our hands.
They will lift you up in their hands,So that you do not [even] strike your foot against a stone.
For You, O Lord, have made me glad by Your works;At the works of Your hands I joyfully sing.
The sea is His, for He made it [by His command];And His hands formed the dry land.
Let the rivers clap their hands;Let the mountains sing together for joy and delight
“At the beginning You founded the earth;The heavens are the work of Your hands.
He gave them into the hands of the nations,And those who hated them ruled over them.
The works of His hands are truth and [absolute] justice;All His precepts are sure (established, reliable, trustworthy).
The idols [of the nations] are silver and gold,The work of man’s hands.
They have hands, but they cannot feel;They have feet, but they cannot walk;Nor can they make a sound with their throats.
And I shall lift up my hands to Your commandments,Which I love;And I will meditate on Your statutes.
Yodh.Your hands have made me and established me;Give me understanding and a teachable heart, that I may learn Your commandments.
For the scepter of wickedness shall not rest on the land of the righteous,So that the righteous will not reach out their hands to do wrong.
For you shall eat the fruit of [the labor of] your hands,You will be happy and blessed and it will be well with you.
Lift up your hands to the sanctuaryAnd bless the Lord.
The idols of the nations are silver and gold,The work of men’s hands.
The Lord will accomplish that which concerns me;Your [unwavering] lovingkindness, O Lord, endures forever—Do not abandon the works of Your own hands.
Keep me, O Lord, from the hands of the wicked;Protect me from violent menWho intend to trip up my steps.
Let my prayer be counted as incense before You;The lifting up of my hands as the evening offering.
I remember the days of old;I meditate on all that You have done;I ponder the work of Your hands.
I reach out my hands to You;My throat thirsts for You, as a parched land [thirsts for water]. Selah.
Blessed be the Lord, my Rock and my great strength,Who trains my hands for warAnd my fingers for battle;
Stretch out Your hand from above;Set me free and rescue me from great waters,Out of the hands of [hostile] foreigners [who surround us]
Whose mouths speak deceit [without restraint],And whose right hand is a right hand of falsehood.
