But just as they were going out, some people brought to him a dumb man who was possessed by a demon,

He said to them, 'This is some enemy's doing.' And they said to him, 'Do you want us to go and gather them up?'

But the sensible ones answered, 'There may not be enough for us and you. You had better go to the dealers and buy yourselves some.'

So the words spoken by the prophet Jeremiah were fulfilled: "They took the thirty silver pieces, the price of the one whose price had been fixed, on whom some of the Israelites had set a price,

So once more the Pharisees asked him how he had become able to see, and he said to them, "He put some clay on my eyes, and I washed them, and I can see."

Then some of the Pharisees said, "This man does not come from God, for he does not keep the Sabbath." But others said, "How can a sinful man show such signs as this?" And there was a division of opinion among them.

Some Pharisees who were present heard this, and they said to him, "Then are we blind too?"
