You must not curse the deaf or put a stumbling block in front of the blind, but you are to fear your God; I am Yahweh.
But in the fifth year you may eat its fruit. In this way its yield will increase for you; I am Yahweh your God.
“Do not turn to mediums or consult spiritists, or you will be defiled by them; I am Yahweh your God.
“You are to rise in the presence of the elderly and honor the old. Fear your God; I am Yahweh.
You must regard the foreigner who lives with you as the native-born among you. You are to love him as yourself, for you were foreigners in the land of Egypt; I am Yahweh your God.
You are to have honest balances, honest weights, an honest dry measure, and an honest liquid measure; I am Yahweh your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt.
Consecrate yourselves and be holy, for I am Yahweh your God.
And I promised you: You will inherit their land, since I will give it to you to possess, a land flowing with milk and honey. I am Yahweh your God who set you apart from the peoples.
They are to be holy to their God and not profane the name of their God. For they present the fire offerings to Yahweh, the food of their God, and they must be holy.
They are not to marry a woman defiled by prostitution. They are not to marry one divorced by her husband, for the priest is holy to his God.
You are to consider him holy since he presents the food of your God. He will be holy to you because I, Yahweh who sets you apart, am holy.
He must not leave the sanctuary or he will desecrate the sanctuary of his God, for the consecration of the anointing oil of his God is on him; I am Yahweh.
“Tell Aaron: None of your descendants throughout your generations who has a physical defect is to come near to present the food of his God.
No descendant of Aaron the priest who has a defect is to come near to present the fire offerings to the Lord. He has a defect and is not to come near to present the food of his God.
He may eat the food of his God from what is especially holy as well as from what is holy.
Neither you nor a foreigner are to present food to your God from any of these animals. They will not be accepted for you because they are deformed and have a defect.”
the One who brought you out of the land of Egypt to be your God; I am Yahweh.”
You must not eat bread, roasted grain, or any new grain until this very day, and until you have brought the offering to your God. This is to be a permanent statute throughout your generations wherever you live.
When you reap the harvest of your land, you are not to reap all the way to the edge of your field or gather the gleanings of your harvest. Leave them for the poor and the foreign resident; I am Yahweh your God.”
On this particular day you are not to do any work, for it is a Day of Atonement to make atonement for yourselves before the Lord your God.
On the first day you are to take the product of majestic trees—palm fronds, boughs of leafy trees, and willows of the brook—and rejoice before the Lord your God for seven days.
so that your generations may know that I made the Israelites live in booths when I brought them out of the land of Egypt; I am Yahweh your God.”
And tell the Israelites: If anyone curses his God, he will bear the consequences of his sin.
You are to have the same law for the foreign resident and the native, because I am Yahweh your God.”
You are not to cheat one another, but fear your God, for I am Yahweh your God.
Do not profit or take interest from him, but fear your God and let your brother live among you.
I am Yahweh your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt to give you the land of Canaan and to be your God.
You are not to rule over them harshly but fear your God.
For the Israelites are My slaves. They are My slaves that I brought out of the land of Egypt; I am Yahweh your God.
“Do not make idols for yourselves, set up a carved image or sacred pillar for yourselves, or place a sculpted stone in your land to bow down to it, for I am Yahweh your God.
I will walk among you and be your God, and you will be My people.
I am Yahweh your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, so that you would no longer be their slaves. I broke the bars of your yoke and enabled you to live in freedom.
Yet in spite of this, while they are in the land of their enemies, I will not reject or abhor them so as to destroy them and break My covenant with them, since I am Yahweh their God.
For their sake I will remember the covenant with their fathers, whom I brought out of the land of Egypt in the sight of the nations to be their God; I am Yahweh.”
He is not to defile himself for his father or mother, or his brother or sister, when they die, because the hair consecrated to his God is on his head.
“When you enter into battle in your land against an adversary who is attacking you, sound short blasts on the trumpets, and you will be remembered before the Lord your God and be delivered from your enemies.
You are to sound the trumpets over your burnt offerings and your fellowship sacrifices and on your joyous occasions, your appointed festivals, and the beginning of each of your months. They will serve as a reminder for you before your God: I am Yahweh your God.”
Then Moses cried out to the Lord, “God, please heal her!”
This way you will remember and obey all My commands and be holy to your God.
I am Yahweh your God who brought you out of the land of Egypt to be your God; I am Yahweh your God.”
Isn’t it enough for you that the God of Israel has separated you from the Israelite community to bring you near to Himself, to perform the work at the Lord’s tabernacle, and to stand before the community to minister to them?
But Moses and Aaron fell facedown and said, “God, God of the spirits of all flesh, when one man sins, will You vent Your wrath on the whole community?”
The people spoke against God and Moses: “Why have you led us up from Egypt to die in the wilderness? There is no bread or water, and we detest this wretched food!”
Then God came to Balaam and asked, “Who are these men with you?”
Balaam replied to God, “Balak son of Zippor, king of Moab, sent this message to me:
Then God said to Balaam, “You are not to go with them. You are not to curse this people, for they are blessed.”
But Balaam responded to the servants of Balak, “If Balak were to give me his house full of silver and gold, I could not go against the command of the Lord my God to do anything small or great.
God came to Balaam at night and said to him, “Since these men have come to summon you, get up and go with them, but you must only do what I tell you.”
But God was incensed that Balaam was going, and the Angel of the Lord took His stand on the path to oppose him. Balaam was riding his donkey, and his two servants were with him.
Balaam said to him, “Look, I have come to you, but can I say anything I want? I must speak only the message God puts in my mouth.”
God met with him and Balaam said to Him, “I have arranged seven altars and offered a bull and a ram on each altar.”
How can I curse someone God has not cursed? How can I denounce someone the Lord has not denounced?
God is not a man who lies,or a son of man who changes His mind.Does He speak and not act,or promise and not fulfill?
He considers no disaster for Jacob; He sees no trouble for Israel. The Lord their God is with them, and there is rejoicing over the King among them.
God brought them out of Egypt; He is like the horns of a wild ox for them.
There is no magic curse against Jacoband no divination against Israel. It will now be said about Jacob and Israel,“What great things God has done!”
Again Balak said to Balaam, “Please come. I will take you to another place. Maybe it will be agreeable to God that you can put a curse on them for me there.”
When Balaam looked up and saw Israel encamped tribe by tribe, the Spirit of God came on him,
the oracle of one who hears the sayings of God,who sees a vision from the Almighty, who falls into a trance with his eyes uncovered:
God brought him out of Egypt; He is like the horns of a wild ox for them.He will feed on enemy nationsand gnaw their bones;he will strike them with his arrows.
the oracle of one who hears the sayings of Godand has knowledge from the Most High, who sees a vision from the Almighty, who falls into a trance with his eyes uncovered:
Once more he proclaimed his poem:Ah, who can live when God does this?
It will be a covenant of perpetual priesthood for him and his future descendants, because he was zealous for his God and made atonement for the Israelites.”
“May the Lord, the God of the spirits of all flesh, appoint a man over the community
“The Lord our God spoke to us at Horeb: ‘You have stayed at this mountain long enough.
The Lord your God has so multiplied you that today you are as numerous as the stars of the sky.
May Yahweh, the God of your fathers, increase you a thousand times more, and bless you as He promised you.
Do not show partiality when deciding a case; listen to small and great alike. Do not be intimidated by anyone, for judgment belongs to God. Bring me any case too difficult for you, and I will hear it.
“We then set out from Horeb and went across all the great and terrible wilderness you saw on the way to the hill country of the Amorites, just as the Lord our God had commanded us. When we reached Kadesh-barnea,
I said to you: You have reached the hill country of the Amorites, which the Lord our God is giving us.
See, the Lord your God has set the land before you. Go up and take possession of it as Yahweh, the God of your fathers, has told you. Do not be afraid or discouraged.
They took some of the fruit from the land in their hands, carried it down to us, and brought us back a report: ‘The land the Lord our God is giving us is good.’
“But you were not willing to go up, rebelling against the command of the Lord your God.
The Lord your God who goes before you will fight for you, just as you saw Him do for you in Egypt.
And you saw in the wilderness how the Lord your God carried you as a man carries his son all along the way you traveled until you reached this place.
But in spite of this you did not trust the Lord your God,
“You answered me, ‘We have sinned against the Lord. We will go up and fight just as the Lord our God commanded us.’ Then each of you put on his weapons of war and thought it would be easy to go up into the hill country.
For the Lord your God has blessed you in all the work of your hands. He has watched over your journey through this immense wilderness. The Lord your God has been with you this past 40 years, and you have lacked nothing.’
just as the descendants of Esau who live in Seir did for us, and the Moabites who live in Ar, until we cross the Jordan into the land the Lord our God is giving us.’
But Sihon king of Heshbon would not let us travel through his land, for the Lord your God had made his spirit stubborn and his heart obstinate in order to hand him over to you, as has now taken place.
The Lord our God handed him over to us, and we defeated him, his sons, and his whole army.
There was no city that was inaccessible to us, from Aroer on the rim of the Arnon Valley, along with the city in the valley, even as far as Gilead. The Lord our God gave everything to us.
But you did not go near the Ammonites’ land, all along the bank of the Jabbok River, the cities of the hill country, or any place that the Lord our God had forbidden.
So the Lord our God also handed over Og king of Bashan and his whole army to us. We struck him until there was no survivor left.
“I commanded you at that time: The Lord your God has given you this land to possess. All your fighting men will cross over in battle formation ahead of your brothers the Israelites.
until the Lord gives rest to your brothers as He has to you, and they also take possession of the land the Lord your God is giving them across the Jordan. Then each of you may return to his possession that I have given you.
“I commanded Joshua at that time: Your own eyes have seen everything the Lord your God has done to these two kings. The Lord will do the same to all the kingdoms you are about to enter.
Don’t be afraid of them, for the Lord your God fights for you.
Lord God, You have begun to show Your greatness and power to Your servant, for what god is there in heaven or on earth who can perform deeds and mighty acts like Yours?
“Now, Israel, listen to the statutes and ordinances I am teaching you to follow, so that you may live, enter, and take possession of the land Yahweh, the God of your fathers, is giving you.
You must not add anything to what I command you or take anything away from it, so that you may keep the commands of the Lord your God I am giving you.
Your eyes have seen what the Lord did at Baal-peor, for the Lord your God destroyed every one of you who followed Baal of Peor.
But you who have remained faithful to the Lord your God are all alive today.
Look, I have taught you statutes and ordinances as the Lord my God has commanded me, so that you may follow them in the land you are entering to possess.
For what great nation is there that has a god near to it as the Lord our God is to us whenever we call to Him?
The day you stood before the Lord your God at Horeb, the Lord said to me, ‘Assemble the people before Me, and I will let them hear My words, so that they may learn to fear Me all the days they live on the earth and may instruct their children.’
When you look to the heavens and see the sun, moon, and stars—all the array of heaven—do not be led astray to bow down and worship them. The Lord your God has provided them for all people everywhere under heaven.
“The Lord was angry with me on your account. He swore that I would not cross the Jordan and enter the good land the Lord your God is giving you as an inheritance.
Be careful not to forget the covenant of the Lord your God that He made with you, and make an idol for yourselves in the shape of anything He has forbidden you.
For the Lord your God is a consuming fire, a jealous God.
